Peanut Pie Dessert Bars, As Delicious As Pecan Pie

Okay let me get started by telling you that this is my version of the recipe. And while you can find other versions of this recipe I feel that I have produced the best version of the recipe for Pecan Pie Dessert Bars.

No matter what recipe you may make there is some where someone that is probably making something very similar. I have worked on my versions of certain recipes for a number of years and this is one of those recipes.

Pecans in the southern United States will soon be falling off the trees and I like to use fresh pecans to make my pecan desserts with. The fresh pecans have the best flavor and produce the best desserts. And these pecan pie dessert bars taste just like a delicious homemade pecan pie.

We are going to be using yellow cake mix to make these delicious pecan pie dessert bars with and while some people will argue with you that its not really homemade if you use a cake mix I will tell you that I have used yellow cake mix to make these delicious bars with for years and people just simply love them.I would say I have probably made tens of thousands of these bars by this recipe.

You will want a 13" X 9" baking pan to make these delicious bars in and I would suggest using Pam(TM) cooking spray to spray your baking pan with before you put your Pecan Pie Dessert Bars in it to cook them. You can use a cheaper vegetable cooking spray but you get what you pay for. Its my belief that you should always use the highest quality ingredients possible when you make and bake things like cakes, pies, dessert bars, brownies and etc. The higher quality ingredients really will give you a better flavored baked good. And you should use the freshest pecans you can find to make your baked goods with.

For Your Pecan Pie Dessert Bars You Will Need

For The Bottom Layer

1. One Box Yellow Butter Flavored Cake Mix.

2. One Third Cup Unsalted Butter Softened.

3. One Large Egg.

For Your Topping You Will Need

1. One Half Cup Light Brown Sugar.

2. One And A Half Cups Light Corn Syrup.

3. One Teaspoon Vanilla Extract.

4. Three Large Eggs.

5. One Cup Fine Chopped Fresh Pecans.

If your going to be doing baking on a regular basis your going to want to make sure that your oven is level and that the oven is cooking at the right temperature. You need to purchase a heavy duty oven thermometer to be able to check your ovens temperature to make sure your ovens dial is correct. Just hang your oven thermometer in the center of the oven so you can check the ovens true temperature against the dial to be sure the dial is right on a regular basis. You can adjust the dial to get the temperature you really need.

Okay as I said above you'll need a 13" X 9" baking pan with sides to make these pecan pie dessert bars in. Start off by spraying your baking pan with a good quality vegetable cooking spray.

You want to start by pre - heating your oven to 350 degrees. Now you will want to reserve two thirds of the dry cake mix for the filling.

In a large bowl combine the rest of your dry yellow cake mix, the softened butter, and one egg and beat at a low speed with a hand mixer until the ingredients are well blended together. Now comes the tricky part. You'll want to pat the mixture into the bottom of the baking pan that you have sprayed with the vegetable cooking spray. Now you want to bake until the cake is light golden brown and then remove from the oven and set to the side. This will take 12 to 15 minutes in a pre - heated oven if the oven is set to 350 degrees and the oven is truly cooking at 350 degrees.

Now in the large mixing bowl combine the remainder of the dry yellow cake mix, the brown sugar, your corn syrup, the vanilla extract and the three eggs and beat with a hand mixer until the mixture is very well mixed together.

Now you will want to pour this mixture over the already baked cake in your baking pan and then sprinkle the top with the crushed pecans. Now you will want to bake your pecan pie dessert bars for an additional 30 to 35 minutes until your filling is fully set. You then want to take the pan out of the oven and cover and let them cool to room temperature before you set the pan in the refrigerator for at least four hours. After your bars have cooled and set in the refrigerator for four hours you can cut your bars up into small bars and wrap each bar individually in plastic and keep the wrapped pecan pie dessert bars in the refrigerator.

And you have now made the most delicious pecan pie dessert bars you will ever eat. They are oh so delicious and I bet you that everyone who tries them will love them. If you make these please post a comment below. And thanks for reading my Hub Page on Pecan Pie Dessert Bars. I hope you make and enjoy these bars. Have a nice day.
