Recipe for Fish Tacos with Veggie Slaw and Homemade Tortilla
Making your own flour tortillas
I was often discouraged about making Mexican food at home because I don't keep a stock of flour tortillas with me. Here in our country, those can be quite pricey, so I decided to make some of my own.
I searched online and I realized that I had all the basic ingredients to make flour tortillas all along and it was super easy!
What you need:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/8 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp vegetable oil, butter, or shortening
1/4 cup warm water
Please follow my complete step by step instructions for Fish Tacos in Homemade Flour Tortillas.
Preparing and assembling the fish tacos
I used pangasius fillets for this recipe, but I also researched other fish taco formulas and found that dory, sole, and even tilapia work best. As long as it's a white fish that is flaky.
The veggie slaw was basically shredded cabbage with red onions and lemon juice. The dressing for the fish tacos was just plain white yogurt and I seasoned it with salt, pepper, and hot sauce.
You can also add your own variations to the recipe like cilantro, tomatoes, chili peppers, avocadoes, et cetera. As for me, I tried to keep the recipe simple and low carb, and those were basically the foods I had in stock at the time.
I hope you found this recipe simple and helpful. Thanks for checking it out :-)
