Restaurant Review: Pink Swirls Live Culture Yogurt

On a hot and steamy evening nothing can beat eating something frozen, fruity and smooth. I'm not talking about ice cream, I mean frozen live culture yogurt. Newly opened in Joplin, Missouri, Pink Swirls is a cool and refreshing stop in your day! Top it all off with a sparkling environment, friendly and helpful staff and you will yourself, be glad you came! Be sure to stop in and experience this sweet shop!

Walk in the door and receive a home town greeting, "Hi! Welcome to Pink Swirls!" at this lovely stop in the northern part of Joplin, Missouri. It is tastefully decorated and the flavors did not disappoint! What a refreshing way to end an evening or to cool down during a hot day! We were met by the Manager, Jesse Hosfelt, who showed us how this amazing frozen live culture yogurt shop works.

You first select your bowl: several sizes and types including chocolate coated waffle bowls are available. Then you choose from a flavor smorgasbord which frozen yogurt or yogurts you will delve into. Along a chrome mirrored wall at the back, the yogurt is set up in pairs of flavors which you can select either separately or in a combination twist. Some of the flavors that were available while we were there were: Birthday Cake, Cookies and Cream, Sweet Original, Bananaberry, and Mangolicious, among others. I was pleased to find the texture and sweetness to be so identical to ice cream that one would never know it was a healthier version! What a great way to get the kids to eat healthier! I chose the Mangolicious, Bananaberry, and the Birthday Cake. Yes, it tastes exactly like birthday cake!!! Loved it! The fruit flavors were sweet and tangy and very on target for what you would expect. Absolutely delicious enough to eat without any toppings. Who would ever do that? Not me!

Next there is a topping assortment made up from a large selection of cookie crumbles, candy bar bits, fruit, sprinkles and gummies. You can add caramel, chocolate or fruit syrup or a cherry on top. It is up to you, you make the all the choices. You choose what to put in, on and how much of it to add. You can make it as simple or as complex as you like. The fruit was fresh and the little pop beads of fruit juice were not only fun, but delicious as well! You really must taste them! I used a mixture of fresh fruit, pop beads, crushed Butterfingers and white chocolate chips. I can never pass the chocolate! When you are finished building your masterpiece dessert, you put your bowl on a small scale that has been built into the counter and you are charged by the ounce. At 39 cents an ounce, it is a steal for this delectable bit of heaven in a bowl. The flavors are excellent and the toppings were first rate!

We settled into white leather chairs around a chrome and silver glitter table to enjoy our creation. The bright pink walls were accentuated with Black and Chrome accessories, with white leather furniture and glittery mirrors around the appliances! Surrounded by the hot pink and black decor, you couldn't help but feel your spirits lift while the heat of the day slipped away!

The Joplin, Missouri location is so new it sparkles! The staff were attentive, smiling and ready to assist! It was clean and well managed. It had an upbeat and lively decor! Very welcoming indeed! You will find it tucked into a small shopping center located at 430 South Geneva #500, positioned right between Sports Clips and Buffalo Wild Wings! With 3 other locations found in Ardmore, Oklahoma; Shawnee, Kansas; and Fayetteville, Arkansas, Pink Swirls will be an absolute Four State Favorite! Be sure to stop in and give it a try...you will be so glad you did!!! For this Restaurant Review: Pink Swirls Live Culture Yogurt is a definite thumbs up!!! I will visit it often and give my frequent visitor punch card a workout, maybe testing out one of those smoothies they have available!

It's sad to say, but Pink Swirls is no longer in business. The town of Joplin, Missouri has been hit by not only the most deadly tornado in our history, but by hardships. Frozen yogurt was hardly an essential and therefore the quaint little shop did not survive the financial hardship. Our town has blossomed with the new growth and the raising of homes and businesses. Maybe soon we will have a resurgence in the need for treats like Pink Swirl's yogurt!
