Some of My Favorite Meals To Cook
Nothing Like Your Favorite Meals
There are so many great and delicious meals out there to prepare and to cook. From fried to grills, to baked and smoked, so many combinations they are endless possibilities. I enjoy preparing meals. I love to cook, and mainly love to grill. I am going to share with you wonderful hubbers some of my favorite meals I love to cook. Maybe, you can agree with some of the ones I list, or maybe you would love to add some of your favorite meals on my list. Either way, let’s talk about some grub. Cooking has become more and more of a favorite hobby of mine. Being from the south, I have had the privilege to experience some great traditional southern cuisine.
First off, my favorite meal to have is nothing better than a great steak dinner. I love to grill and come up with great marinades that soak into that great slab of beef. Tender steak is the key. My favorite cut is the Rib eye. To me, a nice medium cooked Rib eye steak that has marinated over twenty four hours at least, is a great tasting start to a steak dinner. I don’t eat steak often, so when I am preparing a steak dinner it has to be close to perfect. I love freshly sautéed asparagus. I love to sauté asparagus in lemon juice, butter and minced garlic. Then, when they are almost finished I add some parmesan cheese to them, makes for a great side. I also have to have sautéed mushrooms to go along with the steak. This meal is one of my favorites to do.
My second favorite meal of choice is a more traditional southern dish. I like to call this one a meal in a bowl. There is nothing better on a cold winter day then a hot and steamy bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo. I am not a big fan of seafood gumbo, but I do love chicken and sausage gumbo. I have also had it with duck as well and it is very good. There are many ways to prepare gumbo as well as many ingredients you can add to the dish which makes experimenting a fun culinary adventure.
Next favorite meal is not necessarily the healthiest on the menu. Being from the south, you can find just about any meat or seafood in the breaded tradition known as “fried.” My favorite fried dish is the seafood platter combo dish known as fried shrimp, fried oysters and fried catfish. And don’t forget to add those wonderful fresh onion rings and hush puppies. I know it’s a lot for the heart to take which is why I only make this meal every now and then. I must tell you that there is nothing like golden brown fried seafood.
Another type of seafood dish I love is crab. King crab, snow crab or blue crab, it’s all delicious. I love boiling crab. When you get the right amount of seasoning, this dish I can hurt myself by eating too much. There is nothing great than fresh crab. And nothing goes best with fresh crab then more fresh crab. When I do crab, and this is the same with crawfish, whatever sides you want your boil it in the same pot. I love to add corn on the cobs, button mushrooms, and small red potatoes. It is a wonderful treat to have this entire boil in the same pot because your taste buds are going to explode with flavor.
The last favorite meal I want to add is another type of seafood. However, it is more on the fishy side. I love to treat myself to a great piece of fish from time to time. And my favorite piece of fish is Salmon. I have grilled, baked, smokes and pan fried Salmon before. My favorite way to have it is grilled. And I have to have a garlic dill sauce to dip the delicious fish into. And for my side dish I love fresh steam broccoli and corn on the cob. This meal is one of the healthier meals I love to prepare and cook.
These are just a few of the many dishes I love to cook. I’m sure as time moves on, I will have new favorites, but as of now these meals are the best. I hope you enjoy and possibly try a few of these dishes yourselves.
