Wings Recipes
Chicken wings are a great and easy snack food or main course. There are many different ways to prepare wings, as you know if you have ever ordered them in a restaurant only to get something other than what you expected.
In some restaurants, Buffalo wings are breaded, fried, and then covered in Buffalo sauce. In others, they are marinated or based with Buffalo sauce and fried, baked, or grilled without any type of breading.
A few years ago, I decided that I can make wings at home just as well as any restaurant can, so I set out to find the perfect recipe. What I discovered is that there is no perfect recipe. I did discover what I think is the perfect way to prepare Buffalo wings, but I also learned that there is more to being a wing connoisseur than just enjoying hot and spicy Buffalo style wings.
Cooking Technique
Many people like juicy wings. The best way to prepare juicy wings is by deep frying in hot oil, grilling, or baking in an oven set at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes, depending on how large the wings are.
I like dry wings. The secret to dry wings is to bake them at a higher temperature. Place wings on a broiler pan with a drip tray. If you don't want a mess to clean up, line the tray with aluminum foil. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and bake for about 45 minutes, again depending on the size of the wings. Turn halfway through cooking. If they aren't brown enough, turn on the broiler for a few minutes.
Perfect Buffalo Wings
After trying several relatively complicated recipes for Buffalo wings, I discovered that the best way is as simple as can be. The best wings in the world, in my opinion, are made with Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce. The recipe on the bottle is really as close to perfect as you can get with Buffalo wings. Just mix equal parts of sauce with melted butter, coat the wings with the sauce, and cook.
Parmesan Wings
Another great way to prepare wings is to prepare a parmesan cheese coating for them. Mix ½ cup grated parmesan cheese with 4 tablespoons chopped fresh chives (or dried equivalent), 1 tablespoon dried basil, and a dash of cayenne pepper. Coat wings with Parmesan mixture and bake.
Seasoned Salt Wings
A really simple, but tasty way to prepare wings is just to sprinkle Seasoned Salt all over them and bake. I like to do this with Tastefully Simple Seasoned Salt, which has a unique flavor thanks to the celery seed. I have also prepared spicy Cajun wings just by sprinkling Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning on plain wings before baking them.
