   What fruits are in your fruit salad and do you use the watermelon or pineapple husk as a bowl?
   
   Do you get creative and use different fruit husks from canteloupe as a bowl, or a watermelon boat, pineapple, etc.?  I googled the watermelon bowl and was in shock as to the amazing things people carved out of fruit and I've been in the restaurant business for ages and done the whole boat, gator, thing etc.  Check out vegetablefruitcarving.com if you get a chance, they have everything for 4th of July to Halloween.  So what fruits do you put in your fruit salad and do you get creative with the husk\skin?

   I like to use the watermelon husk as the bowl for fruit salad. Fruits that I have put in a  salad include; watermelon, honey dew melon, pineapple, apples, kiwi, cherries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, oranges, and bananas. I love the taste of all of these fruits together. Sometimes I drizzle honey over the top too. Yummy question :-)

      I always forget about putting in cherries and raspberries which is crazy since they're so good and healthy! I love making watermelon bowls and boats it's so much fun. Thanks for the honey tip too.

   I put all sorts of fruit in my salad - usually whatever I have on hand. I tried a watermelon basket once and it turned out really well.  I haven't tried the pineapple husk as a bowl but have used it as a centerpiece.

   I've never used the husks as bowl as this usually requires more work than I feel putting into it. What I put in my frut salad  depends most on what frutis I ahve avaiable. Though I try to make sure it as colorful as possible - red, yellow, green, orange, purple.
   Red could be watermelon, strawberries, raspberries or red grapes. Yellow could be starfruit or bananas. Green could be kiwis, honeydew melon, or green grapes. Orange could be oranges, tangerines, canteloupe. Purple includes black berryies and blueberries. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting

   I've used a pineapple as a fruit bowl, halved lengthwise and scooped out. i left the green leaves and it was quite the centerpiece of my breakfast table! Since we live in Peru, I use fruits typical to the region: pineapple, mango (one of my favorites), cherimoya, prickly pear, kiwi, banana and sometimes apple, pear or strawberries depending upon the season.       Sounds so good especially since mango and pineapple are two of my favorite fruits. I've never heard of cherimoya and am going to have to check it out. By the way read your hub, it was awesome, with some great recipes that even I might be able to do:)
