Chocolate cake is the basis for many desserts and traditional cakes. A traditional American approach is either a chocolate or vanilla frosting like butter cream. Professional chefs and home bakers alike have experimented with adapting the chocolate cake to unique flavors.

INGREDIENTS:-
1/3 cup(80 ml) vegetable oil
2 ounces(55 gm) unsweetened chocolate
1 or 1/2 cup to taste sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 cup(300 gm) whole wheat flour
1/2 tbsp salt
1/2 tbsp baking soda
1/2 tbsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup(180 ml) water
3/4 cup(180 gm) semi-sweet chocolate pieces (such as chocolate chips)
1/2 cup(120 gm) chopped nuts
4 ounces(115 gm) cream cheese or sour cream(optinal)
DIRECTIONS:-
1:- Put the oil and chocolate in an 8in (20cm) square pan and set it in 350°F (180°C) oven just until the chocolate melts. (Add sour cream or cream cheese if desired.)
2:- Add remaining ingredients, except chocolate chips and nuts, to the pan.
3:- Beat with fork untill smooth and creamy (about 2 minutes).
4:- Scrape the side of the pan, and spread the batter evenly in the pan.
5:- Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Optionally, cut the chocolate chips and nuts into the batter to some extent.
6:- Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 30 to 40 minutes, until a toothpick stuck in the center comes out clean.
7:- Cool in pan; eat hot or cooled.

Ingredients :-
165 gm refined flour (maida)
2 tsp baking powder
110 gm chocolate, grated
130 gm butter
150 gm castor sugar (caster sugar)
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
DIRECTIONS :-
1:- Sieve together refined flour and baking powder.
2:- Take grated chocolate and butter in a microwave bowl and melt in a microwave oven on MEDIUM (70%) for one minute.
3:- Stir the mixture and add castor sugar and stir again to mix well.
4:- Add the sieved flour and mix well.
5:- Add milk and mix to get a pouring consistency.
6:- Add chopped walnuts and vanilla essence.
7:- Pour the batter into a greased microwave dish and level the surface.
8:- Bake in the microwave oven at HIGH (100%) for five minutes. Check for doneness.
9:- If not done bake for one more minute at MEDIUM (70%).
10:- If baking in a convection oven preheat the oven at 180C and then bake the cake for twenty five to thirty minutes.
