I just read an article about how people who play games, such as ones on Playstation are obsessed and spend hours trying to win and get to the next level. I think that it's a bit obsessive. Its the same with most technology, we can't leave the house without our phones or even sit through a lecture without looking at my phone. So what's your take?? Are we obsessed with technology to a point where its taking over our lives or is it normal to spend hours on our phones and games online??
Yes it is taking over our lives and has done gradually, that pace is increasing as we head into more internet & cloud based services, as more and more businesses replace 'Humans' with automated services.
Greater proportion of technology takeover of human services is good, however what is on the rise is reducing humans as 'Labour force' in business & industry which will cause the most pain in society going forwards. Usually this kind of technical advancement in business and industry is driven by money. That money saved by introducing technology usually ends up in the pockets of rich fat cats and a small number of rich share holders. While as a result of technology many people lose their jobs.
All the best
It is just that we would rather have some pleasure right now than do something else. We love to procrastinate really. We are not in particular obsessed with technology - we are obsessed with everything that gives us immediate pleasure, such as eating fast food and watching television, although we know it is bad for us. Technology makes it so easy to entertain yourself that technology was just destined to become so popular.
Yes, in restaurants, in the malls, in doctor offices, even workplaces, cell phones that will need to be surgically removed one day. I do think we are obsessed and gadgets have taken over many lives.
In some ways it seems a bit obsessive, but no wonder. The ability to play games or interact with people the other side of the world, 24/7, is something that would have seemed a fantasy not so many years ago. It's a communication revolution.
Yes, people are obsessed. I have watched this change and it saddens me that people who you are not with are more important than the ones you are with!
Whem my family goes out to eat, I see other families with teens texting or ipods plugged into ears. No one is talking. How will these teens handle a business lunch in the future? Or a bunch of teens and twentysomethings at the table texting others, playing on their phones, and no one is talking.
Really, what is the point of being with others if you are not really "with" them?
My pet peeve is when I go to a store or other place of busines, if a private cell phone rings, the person picks it up, even in the middle of a transaction. People are texting on the job and look at me when I want to check out or ask a question like I am bothering them!
While there are many wonderful things about technology, I think the constant 24/7 has gone too far.

How do you think you would cope without cell phones, computers and the internet?Just a thought. I grew up with no running water, a party line telephone, and two channels of tv. I know I enjoy all the gadgets but would be able to survive quite well without them. Ha ha it's ironic I'm posting...
