I want to put some example Haiku's (Haikii?) from Wiki into my several hundred word page of otherwise original content.

Can I just put them in?

They are only short - four of them - that serve as examples.

No sweat.  I copied a picture of the text.

    It will do.

Why Not Simply write your Haiku (the word for both singular and multiple haiku) ?

Or commission a Haiku writer to write the appropriate verse ?

    Keep in mind:
Haiku is a far more disciplined genre than many here believe and it is quite disappointing to see the ancient art of haiku disrespected by those ignoring the spirit of haiku by not understanding the fundamentals of the art.

Thanks for your advice. I wanted to quote proper Haiku from the Wiki examples.

Yeah.. of course... silly me sad

I thought from your slightly 'unsure' or 'disjointed' posts that you were looking for something more pure or genuine than their contributed examples and advice! big_smile

I am certainly unsure or disjointed as far as Haiku is concerned, and I genuinely appreciate you offering me proper advice.  Particularly as I have been involved in a row about this art form, due to my abusing it at some length in a recent page.

To redress the balance somewhat I had already discovered, and linked to, your amazing page on Haiku and I had tried to understand what this poetry form was about.

To be honest, I have failed in that, the Wiki thing was a last attempt to get the hang of it.

I am currently writing a series of 10 frames on exactly that called 'This sensual splash of visual haiku'
It gives a solid grounding in two ancient Japanese Art Forms - haiku and woodblock printing, for anyone wanting to explore the genre and gauge at least a basic understanding of the culture and spirit.

Frame One and Frame Two are published.. Frame Three will be in the next couple of days. Maybe they will help your understanding Mark.
