So I am looking to increase my traffic to my hubs and I have read a lot of great hubs about this exact topic.  However, I have noticed that most of them recommend using social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace to name a few.

Are there any other good ways to gain traffic without using this particular method??  With 5 kids, a husband, 2 cats, and a house to take care of, I can barely keep up with my hubs and I don't really have time for more social networking.

Thanks in advance for any tips : )

People always assume that they have a good strong network to network with on social networking sites, but this has to be built up over time.

The traffic methods that I swear by are article marketing and video marketing, these are the top traffic generating methods that you should make time for, although videos are quicker to make, all these entail is creating content related to your hubpages and publishing it out onto article directories and video uploading sites...only choose the best pr ranked sites that are ranked highly and only choose a small handful at first as you can add the other smaller ranked sites later on for video submissions you can use tubemogul to submit videos to a collection of video sharing sites all in one go, if that would save you time.

Also adding relevant blog comments on blogs that are related to your blog, although you have got to determine whether they are do follow or no follow, but generally you could snag some of the existing readers attention anyway if you write good quality comments and just join in discussions...but like anything this does all take time and you are best off setting aside small blocks of time each day to do some of these like I do and you will soon see the benefits of your time and effort.

Later stages you may want to have a blog, if you don't already have one, or at the very least a website that you can cross promote your hubpage content through, they key is to increase your backlinks to your hubpages without it seeming like you are spamming your way through multiple search engines.

I have a dog, 2 kids and a mrs who had a nervous breakdown a few months back and I still had a go at the hubpage challenge and am still promoting and doing affiliate marketing whilst drawing some fantasy art and writing up draft hubpages every other day....so it's just all about setting up blocks of time and just getting on with it.

16 hubs in 4 weeks is pretty good, it's more than some people do....so good luck!

Yes, you don't have to do social networking to get traffic. But you need to do keyword research and build backlinks. Done properly, this will bring you search engines traffic, which is the only traffic that is worth the effort. smile

I think using social networking to help your readership and possible friend base grow increasing your traffic the healthiest way would be through the use of increased promotion as subtly as possible to your friends so they view your articles with content driven minds. I use this approach an I have nothing but praise from my friends as they see it as a great courtesy that I was so subtle and did no pressuring only prompting of the message that I do care what I am writing about and I believe you too will benefit from it.

Yeah sure here's a link to the top 50 article directories according to traffic and rank - http://www.vretoolbar.com/articles/directories.php

Video marketing is sort of the same as article marketing, you create a video, which will be your content and you upload it to various video sharing sites with a link back to your hubpage, blog or website, useful video and articles are the key to getting them linked to and re-published on other related sites.
