Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 tips on Hardcore Multiplayer Game types ( MW3 Tips )

Hardcore game modes

As i said in my initial review of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, i would be making guides with tips on specific game modes. Well this guides will show you the basics on how to play the hardcore game modes efficiently with tips on how to play a good game each time you play.

Also.. I am on the Xbox Live network, for those of you who continue to ask, my gamer tag is Agent Johnr. I tend to not add new members from here unless I play with you first, and I only play hardcore domination, or Infected, but either way if you see me on, feel free to send a shout out.

the first thing i would like to mention about hardcore is that you should focus on using automatic weapons, with low recoil, and easy movement. On MW3 in hardcore, i don't suggest using, sniper rifles, light machine guns, or shotguns. These weapons may be powerful, and will kill someone if you hit them, but for the most part the maps that are out now are close quarter maps and do not need the use of these weapons. A sniper rifle may come in handy on a couple maps, but as far as the shotgun and LMG's go, you cannot maneuver them like the sub machine guns, and assault rifles. If you prefer a shotgun, try it out, and who knows you may be good with it, but for someone just starting out you will get run over by anyone wit an automatic gun 9 times out of 10.. So theres my suggestions for your gun classes, now lets go into the game modes.

The game modes.

Team Deathmatch

I always start with Team Deathmatch because this game mode is obviously the most classic, and most simple game mode. In hardcore you will see that it is just like the core version with no UAV, and it is much easier for you to kill someone.... or die... But either way, team deathmatch is a great way for someone to get introduced to the hardcore game modes. In past Call of Duties, the hardcore team deathmatch has been known as a campers paradise because that is primarily what people would do. But in MW3 although you will find campers, the new addition of special explosive weapons can easily eliminate camping, along with being able to reset your stats at 10th prestige. As far as tips for team deathmatch go, i would say that assault rifles would be best. If you like to rush, and run and gun, then sub machine guns, but for a casual game style then using an assault rifle like the M4, or the CM901 will easily allow you to take a game with a good amount of kills.

kill Confirmed

Hardcore kill confirmed is currently my favorite game type along with search and destroy. Kill confirmed on hardcore really allows you to get kills, but also have an objective during a game, and typically will prevent the campers that you will find in team deathmatch.

Tips - On hardcore kill confirmed you should use an assault rifle, or submachine gun. Like team deathmatch, you should be using a gun that has good movement, low recoil, and a good fire rate. Using a sniper rifle may get kills, but this will not help your team out. A shotgun, is going to get overrun by someone using a machine gun, and if you do kill them, then typically someone will kill you on your way to grab there dog tags. A light macine gun can be used here, but honestly is not necessary because you should not have the need to have to have such a large magazine, or large amount of power. So stick to the assault rifles or submachine guns.

Search and Destroy -

Hardcore search and destroy is my favorite game type along with kill confirmed. Overall search and destroy eliminates camping along with providing an overall fun experience for an objective based game.

Tips - Now this is simple. On offense your goal is to move quickly. I think using a submachine gun here is key. The maneuverability and low recoil, and high fire rate allows hipfiring when you see an enemy, but also power to hit someone from a distance. Assault rifles are fine if you are backing up someone who is running ahead, and shotguns are fine if you are leading the pack. No snipers on offense though, this will hurt your team, and will not be effective in winning the game. On defense, your goal should be to defend. You can rush and try to get the whole team, in which case stick with a shotgun, or a submachine gun. If you are going to defend and objective use either an assault rifle, or light machine gun, and if you are camping thena sniper rifle with an automatic secondary is a smart move.

Hardcore Domination -

Hardcore domination is my least favorite game type, and i do not play this very often. As far as strategy and ways to play , and tips, I am still trying to figure out the best way, if you have tips let me know and i can look into them but here is what makes sense to me for this game type.

Tips - defending the objective you want you can use any weapon. Sniper rifle if you are defending from a distance, or watching more than 1 objective at once(high in the air, or far in distance), assault rifle or shotgun if you are close on the objective, and submachine gun if you are capturing enemy objectives. Beyond that i don't really know what more to say as me and my team don't really play this game mode, because we play Search and Destroy, but this is what makes sense, and the strategy i follow when i do play Hardcore domination.

As far as perks go on Hardcore this is what i follow and these are the things i suggest

Perk 1

Sleight of hand- allows for faster reloading , and in certain situations this is extremely crucial.

Blind eye - this allows you for the first part of jammer where enemy air support and centries cannot detect you, this is crucial in Hardcore because of how easily you can get killed by bullet damage.

Perk 2 -

Assassin - is obviously the most important once you can unlock it, this allows you to be undetectable, which in hardcore allows you to be extremely effective if using a silencer and blind eye.

Hardline - is the only other perk i suggest in this class This allows you to get your killstreaks one kill earlier, which with the attack perks this is crucial to be able to take enemies out, and help your team.

Reason for not suggesting overkill - With only needing 1 shot to get a kill, any gun is fine, even a pistol, and i do not think you should waste perk 2 to have 2 weapons when chances are you will die before needing that second gun.

Perk 3

Steady Aim- Hip-firing is one of the most important features in hardcore. This will greatly increase your accuracy, and your kills, therefore this is the only perk that i suggest using from perk 3.

Dead silence - The only exception is in Search and Destroy. In search and destroy it is more important for you to be silent then it is for your hipfiring, because if the enemy can hear you, then they have the advantage, so in search and destroy use dead silence.

Seems Hardcore has become the noob tubers playlist of choice due to the MW launchers being weaker now. How do you get around that?

well, there are a few ways to get around that. and also sorry for taking so long to reply i never got a notification on this comment. So first off, if you are staying stationary (camping) then camp where tubes are difficult to shoot. For instance it seems that noob tubers are typically less skillful, and with no iron sights or sights to assist putting a tube in tricky spots can be quite difficult.

And B.. Blast shield. I haven't noticed it too badly, but if it becomes to big of a deal in a game, i make sure i have that blast shield/tube class setup so i can take on the offense.

ACR unsuppressed does minimum amount of 30 Damage at the longer ranges, and is statistically the best gun in the game (not including MK14 and Type95), and in all Hardcore modes everybody has 30 Health (not including if someone has Ballistic Vest equipped).

So, the ACR kills in ONE hit at ANY range UNSUPPRESSED if their target does NOT have Ballistic Vest or Juggernaut Armor and there is NO SURFACE blocking Bullet Damage.

Proficiency to use with ACR is obviously IMPACT, as it negates certain surfaces that would dull down each bullet's Damage, thus allowing you to also make easier Kills by picking strategic cover to fire through or from so you do not lose Damage but your enemy will if he returns fire allowing you to potentially live while securing the kill OR blind firing into walls or hallways if you predict an enemy would walk there of if you see a pixel of movement.

I'm trying to use Trophy System more as it helps dull down the amount of tubes and rockets tossed at you everywhich way.

I use Bouncing Betties, but due to Stalker Pro being used AGAINST me, I may opt for Semtex or C4.

I use Specialist Killstreaks cause I always want more. I usually start off with Blind Eye/Hardline/Stalker (all Pro) with SoH/Assassin/QuickDraw as my follow up Perks, but feel free to mix and max to use what suites your style more.

Secondary I usually have Stingers if I'm NOT using a Blind Eye/Assassin combo, or RPGs if I am. (having Specialist set up with BE/AS on with SoH achieved is mucho awesome as well as protecting your team from UAVs or Air Support :) )

Or y'know. Use whatever.

I agree 100% on the ACR, i used it as my favorite weapon in MW2, and its right up there in this game. When i was going through the prestiges i was just trying to level up, but now i only use the ACR, or the FAD.. Fad is weaker, but it's a fun gun to play with. Anyway i like your set up, and if it works for you that's good. I don't really suggest betties though because i personally don't get kills with them, and even if i do trip one ( i don't use stalker) i go prone quick enough to not die. I would say semtex is the best, and is what i use on ALL my classes now, C4 can be fun, but personally i don't like it under certain circumstances, anyway thanks for the comment.

Well I have been using the m4a1 and I think personally it's the best wepond. Silencer and impact is best and it's low recoil and just plain out kiks butt but I have yet to try the acr.

Jarred try the light machine guns in later rounds. the large clips makes up for the bad recoil, trust me.

I have found that when playing on domination (resistance map in particular) a LMG is invaluable. I personally use a red dot or acog and a grip on the M60 as it will kill in 1 or 2 bullets on hardcore and the added accuracy at range is crucial. The kickback is manageable with the grip and only really gets bad after 20 or so rounds, and very rarely does it come to that. As with most LMGs SoH is a must. 2nd perk is usually Assassin. Quickdraw or blast shield is optional but with this set up the killstreaks keep piling in and hard line is kind of unneeded. 3rd is steady aim as it helps with kick and hipfire, sitrep can be useful to detect incoming explosives or hear enemies attempting to sneak. Alt weapon is usually stingers to take out those pesky air units, or dual skorps in the event of close quarters. Claymore or Betty to cover ur flank, and a trophy to stop incoming tubes. Killstreaks are variable depending on what role u want to fill on ur team, support is what I usually use to see incoming enemies and drop care packages with escort. This setup is great for upping k/d and also assisting your team to hold those crucial flags.

Honestly though, why use a LMG on hardore? An ACR is a 1 shot kill gun, and as long as you hit them will kill them. Remember this is for hardcore, if i was playing core i would follow your strat, but on hardcore seems like a little much.

jgilmartin 4 years ago

The reason I use an LMG is the massive clip size, more often than not I die when reloading a smaller clip, but with a 100+ round clip, you never need to reload, and if you do, accuracy is more of an issue for you then. 1 clip with the M60 routinely gets me to 15 kills. This clip size is really useful when having to lay down some cover fire when the opposing team is trying to take the flag, as you can clear the entire team 2-3 times without reloading. That's why I use an LMG on domination specifically. If it was another game variant on hardcore, it would be a different story as mobility is more useful then. But when the objective is to hold a flag for as long as possible reloading every few shots is a bit tedious and in my experience usually gets you killed, so the large clip becomes very useful.

I guess, but in the end, it is preference. Personally i would rather use an ACR, get 3-5 kills per clip, use my kill streaks as they come, and be able to have that constant mobility. I feel that is i stay still to long, a grenade comes my way all to quickly.

sornir 4 years ago

I love all your tips and I will try to keep them all in mind whenever I'm in hardcore. My last few Hardcore: HQ Pro matches I've went about 40-100+ because of clans and noob tubers. I only use ACR for that game type too. Stupidest thing ever. Search and Destroy though I use UMP until I unlock the MP7 and your tips for Search have really been useful :) Thank you for taking your time and helping us all out.

semtex or ok but if you don't aim it right when throwing it, it will stick the the wall or some place that does no damage, i use frags and just cook them for a bit depending on how far im trying to throw it. as far a rifles, its a tie between the ACR and the M4A1, acr does more damage but the fire rate on the m4 is faster,it's a matter of preference really,

Acr is much more effective, and sticky grenade is better once you learn the tricks to using them.

guestinitup 4 years ago

You should really try the lmgs- the lsw is 1-hit kill at any range even with suppressor and crouched/prone has less recoil than even the acr. Plus you'll probably never need to reload, so you don't need SoH.

WEll I don't use sleight of hand anyway most of the time, I would rather be using the blind eye for helicopters on hardcore... BUT LMG's aren't bad, but I move around to much, and they are to heavy for me.

Lucas Marston 4 years ago

In my opinion mp7 is the way to go for hardcore games. Quick up time, insane rate of fire (insane enough) and quite good range.

Couple it with a silencer and extended mags or thermal (trust me) for the snowy map (forgot name)

I frequently get the 30 kills needed to end the match. Try it at see what you think.

As for perks I use Slight of hand, either hardline (for quicker rewards) or assassin (for more defensive play) and markman for seeing the names from a better distance.

imawesome 4 years ago

My fav is the ump with red dot scope. Or as50 with a acog scope. Both with an assassin perk. This i use for s&d ( search and destroy. Silencer if possible. I am lvl 30sumthin pestige if it helps.P.S. Use a UAV. Happy hunting :)

how can you not like hardcore domination it

is the best for getting lots of kills and getting

more point and Levi_Styles is my online name

B0nec0lecter21 4 years ago

I prefer the scar with a silencer and a red dot with sleight of hand assasian and dead silence with a desert eagle

B0nec0llector that set up sounds a bit like team deathmatch?. I assume only because the deagle is great for the show off kill cams, and messing around.. But also I can't see not using blind eye if your playing hardcore domination. But then again most of my teammates don't use it..

forest gump 4 years ago

so you play only hardcore domination but it is your least favorite game mode? am i reading this wrong or huh?

Wraith 4 years ago

Actually, if you can get around how bad the MW3 Deagle feels (at least for me), it is a 1-hit kill in hardcore. However, when I play hardcore, I usually use a silenced pistol (or a silenced MP9) because I like to stay (mostly) hidden.

Wraith 4 years ago

Actually, the deagle isn't half bad for hardcore. After all, it is ALWAYS a 1-shot kill. My younger brothers use it all the time. Its actually rather entertaining to watch. XD

Wraith 4 years ago

Actually, that setup is pretty close to what I'll typically use in hardcore gametypes. I almost always use a silencer (if available), I'll typically use a silenced pistol or machine pistol (however, the desert eagle is always a 1-hit kill in hardcore). However, I tend to hang back and provide sniper-style support, but I can, and sometimes will, take an SMG or shotgun and charge with the rest (well, along a different route, if I can XD). If I'm providing sniper support, I'll typically use Scavenger Pro, Assassin Pro, and Marksman Pro/Dead Silence, with Specialist Package going Sleight of Hand Pro, Blind Eye (pro if possible), and Hardline Pro. If I'm charging, I'll typically use Scavenger Pro, Assassin Pro, and Steady Aim Pro, with Support Package UAV and Counter UAV. And if I'm running an LMG (don't typically do this in Hardcore gametypes though), I use Stinger for secondary, with perks Blind Eye Pro, Hardline Pro, and Stalker Pro, with Support Package, usually running UAV and Counter UAV.

I usually pull this out if the enemies seem to be doing a "UAV spam" strategy, or keep pulling out helicopters. I find it HILARIOUS to call in a UAV, then a Counter UAV, shoot down an entire strafe run, then call in another of each.
