Games For Every Age & Rainy Day Dates
Games we played
Are you looking for an activity for a rainy day with your family or maybe even a rainy day date to have some fun together.
As we grew up we spent hours playing board games as a family , card games such as like Snap, Spread out fish, Double Rummy & so on which we enjoyed.
I did the same with my 3 daughters as they were growing up and had many happy hours together.
Now I play games with my new husband ! Rumicub is a fun one to play .
Snakes & Ladders !
The purpose of the game is to advance to the finish via a series of snakes and ladders taking each player's game piece through the game board.
Scrabble is a popular game that we spent hours playing & encourages literacy, reading, writing, and other vital skills in a fun, challenging format.
Yahtzee was another one of our favourite games ! In this simple game success depends on a roll of the dice, but the multiple point combinations easily teach maths skills and other valuable lessons
. Operation .Hand-eye coordination is essential for this classic and competitive board game, with a subtle anatomy lesson added for good measure.
Monopoly is relatively simple to play but more complex ! To win the game, you must own more properties than your opponents and have the most money. Players start at Go, roll the dice to move around the board, try to buy up as many properties as possible and fill them with hotels. The ultimate properties to own are Park Place and Boardwalk. Opponents who land on your properties must pay rent. Along the way, there are taxes that must be paid, as well as the chance of landing in jail.
Children love games!
Rummicub ! What we play at the moment!
Play Rummicub
Rummikub (also known as Rummy-O, Rummycube, Rummyking and Rummy Tile) is a tile based game for two to four players invented in Israel A rummikub is a technical device in stamp size, mostly made from plastic, used instead of playcards in the rummy game. They fit in great quantity on a table and can be easy manipulated.
Most families are very busy & find it hard to find time to enjoy a favorite game with the family.
These tips will help give a favorite game a place of honor and enjoyment in a family's routine and create lasting memories for your family
Establish a regular "game night" weekly, monthly, or otherwise as frequently as schedules permit. Set the date and time far enough in advance so that everyone can plan around the event.
Restrict distractions during the game night: turn off cell phones, televisions, video games, and other potential interruptions.
Choose a comfortable location to play with adequate seating and light for everyone to participate.
Rotate which family member chooses the game to play so everyone has the opportunity to enjoy their favorite games.
Provide snacks and drinks to make game night a full event rather than crammed between other daily activities.
Remember the hours playing monoply !
