Is It Worth To Buy A PSP? My Top 7 Reasons Why You Should Buy A PSP

Updated on December 12, 2009

Sony PSP Is More Than Just A Gaming Platform

The Playstation Portable (PSP) nowadays is one popular handheld that has every hardcore video gamer crazed. Sony Computer Entertainment really outdid themselves coming up with the great gadget we now know as PSP. It is small, but packs great features such as storing and playing games, viewing pictures, video clips, even full length movies, browsing the net, among other cool features. Its hardware is very well designed and has a resolution of 480 x 272 on a 4.3 inch wide screen. Moderate sound with built-in speakers with headphone option. With models 2000 and 3000, the PSP is now capable to connect to any TV for gaming and to perform any other function on a big screen. This is because it has AV output. The one thing that has been said a lot of the PSP, is that it might be liked by the more grown up audience, than children. So it really makes the statement that it is not just child's play.

There are many reasons why anyone should buy a PSP. Either for themselves or simply as a gift for people into gaming. I know the list could be long, but I should just name 7 of the most important that come to mind:

1. It is a multimedia power house. The many functions of the PSP is what makes it unique. It did not used to be so, but now there are many different programs (and more being developed) that cater to the PSP.

2. There are comics and magazines fully down-loadable from the internet to the PSP at absolutely no extra cost.

3. Customization of the PSP. Make it known it is your style with PSP themes, and wallpaper pictures of your favorite movie, artist, actor, actress, etc.

4. Mix your own set of music and put them in categories folders. You also have control of playback. It does have mp3 player funtions.

5. With wireless capabilities, you can play other PSP gamers simultaneously using internet connection.

6. With the memory stick, you can also carry around any type of computer file for transfer reasons. Very convenient.

7. Browse the internet anywhere with free wireless access. Hot spots are increasing and the PSP can take advantage of it. With it's portability, it is just so convenient.

Just a few months ago, the PSP Go was released, It has all the functions talked about here. but two of the differences between the new PSP Go model and the PSP 3000 is that the PSP Go model is much smaller in size, and does not have a UMD drive. So all the games for the PSP Go are only to be obtained by digital downloads through PSN Store. It is a good alternative for those who might just be interested in downloading games, instead of going to the local electronic store and buying the games there. Either way the PSP Go and PSP 3000 are great gaming consoles, fun for gaming and beyond gaming.

There is more to be said about the PSP and the new PSP Go, I have dedicated my site to the PSPs. I have created much content, reviewed games, and give important information about the famous handheld. Feel free to check it out at PSP Games And Media
