Buying Remote Control Monster Trucks

The remote control monster trucks of today are monsters in the RC hobby. Many enthusiasts are drawn to the exhilarating excitement of the racing, bashing and crawling in stunts that these RC vehicles can perform. And if that isn’t enough for your these vehicles are designed and built for smashing their way through dirt, grass and any track that gets in their way. Monster trucks are the adrenaline junkies dream RC hobby vehicle.

If you are thinking of buying your first to pit against other remote control monster trucks but have no experience; then you are probably wondering what to look out for in your first purchase. Here is quick list of things to consider when buying your first RC monster truck.

Ready to Run (RTR) or Build It Yourself

There is no doubt that building the vehicle yourself will give you a lot satisfaction and may make the vehicle more personal. However if you have no experience building a vehicle; RTR may be the ideal choice. This doesn’t mean that in the future you can’t upgrade your vehicle. As you grow in your experience you can add or replace components using recommended sellers to enhance the performance of your vehicle.

Nitro or Electric?

Make a decision on what power source you wish to have in your RC monster truck. Most hobbyists will have experience with both and will have a preference. Those that use Nitro find that they can have better performance but higher running and maintenance costs. Also the learning curve for control can be a lot sharper. There is also the question about the smoke, noise and smell which hobbyists tend to enjoy but outsiders may not appreciate. For the beginner an electric engine is recommended with lower running costs and easier assembly but you don’t get the performance of the sound and smell that Nitro engines provide.
