From Boring Barbecue to Unforgettable Memories: Water Soakers and Water Blasters

There's nothing like summer fun to bring a family together. Do you find that your kids and spouses are often absorbed with their technological toys? Water blasters and soakers are a great way to get them outside enjoying the summer weather! Adding water guns to any outdoor party is a great way to stay active and engaged. Turn those boring barbecues into memories that will never be forgotten, Let's take a look at how you can acomplish this.

Water blasters and soakers are always welcome on steamy summer days. They bring a combination of playfulness and friendly competition. It doesn't matter how old you are. When someone hands you a water blaster, you're going to go into commando mode! Not everyone has room in their yard, but you can still have water fun with water guns. Playing games similar to paintball and laser tag helps promote team work and problem solving. It also brings unity and a common goal which is something parents always want to promote among siblings. Family time is greatly dsirupted with technological toys such as cell phones, ipods and video games. Encouraging kids to play a friendly game using water guns achieves family interaction, fitness and cooperation.

You're probably thinking....why didn't I think of this before! It's the prefect solution to getting those couch potatoes up and going! This great family activity that can involve adults, teens, tweens and kids!

Game Rules for Water Soakers and Blasters

You know what's going to happen if you have a summer barbecue and you hand out water soakers. Someone that doesn't want to get wet, is going to get soaked. For this reason, you should lay down some ground rules even before your guests arrive.

Ground Rules for Summer Fun with Water Blasters and Water Soakers

  • Be sure to let guests know there will be games invvolving water guns. You can say, "Come prepared for water fun." or "Please,be advised you will get soaked. Come casual and ready for fun!"
  • Some people get really competitive. You will want to lay down some boundaries such as: do not aim at the eyes, do wet the hair or plain old -keep it clean!
  • Choose teams either by gender or family and have a friendly game similar to laser tag or paintball.
  • Buy small water guns for younger children, so they can have their own water fun,  You don't want them feeling left out.

My Personal Experience

For many years, I would give my kids end of the school year parties. I have a lot of kids (7), so each child was allowed to invite a certain amount of kids. The invitations always stated, "Come prepared for summer water fun." . I purchased enough water guns, soakers and blasters for each child. I also provided water sprinklers, a slip and slide and water balloons. I also purchased inflatable pools for them to enoy.

I don't think I have to tell you that the kids had a great time. They made memories that they will always have. They'll probably do the same for their kids one day...
