Tricks for All-Day Energy!
We are living in a world where it needs us to wake up early for work. Most of us in the United States are accustomed to drinking a cup of coffee in the morning to help us get through the day. What works best for us to power up all day is light, breakfast, and action.
#1 Don't Fall Back Asleep Once the Alarm Rings!
It's tempting to hit snooze when the alarm goes off in the morning. The problem is that by falling back asleep, our hormone cycle will be interrupted, which can make it harder to get going during the day. Try setting the alarm fifteen minutes later and put the clock or the cell phone a little farther from your bed so you won't be able to reach and hit snooze right at the spot.
#2 Let the Light In...
Artificial and/or natural light optimize the body wake up process. If it's sunny outside, roll up the shades. However, if it's dark outside, turn on the lights.
#3 Exercise in the Morning
Those who exercise regularly increased energy levels by 20 percent according to exercise physiologists.
#4 Eat More Breakfast!
If you eat a bagel and drink a cup of coffee, yes, you might get the energy but it's a recipe for a crash. Go for a mix of lean protein, unrefined carbs, and healthy fat. Think of scramble eggs, whole grain, and oatmeal.
#5 Move Around Work
We can't stay focused on one task for longer than 90 minutes. Don't stay glued on the chair for too long. Get up, talk to people or stand while you're on the phone.
#6 Have Some Carbs
Don't fear carbs. Add fruits or black beans on your meal. Carbs equal quick energy. Not bad at all!
#7 Head Outdoors During Lunch Time
Sunshine boosts level of vitamin D; D regulates metabolism and insulin secretion.
#8 Stretch! Stretch! Stretch!
