Best Superfoods With Anti Cancer Properties

Updated on September 25, 2012

In regard to cancer, and how superfoods theoretically can help in regard to its prevention, one would think that researchers and scientists would agree upon the data that exists now. Superfoods, and how they help with cancer, this particular data is not seen, or at least, it is quite difficult to find. Researchers and physicians alike actually do not come out and say that superfoods are useless in the fight against cancer, even though the data is not there. Many times it's a matter of looking at the risk factors and lifestyle habits and make comparisons.

What Are Superfoods?

In the last several years, focusing upon berries, and how they can help with cancer, has been prominently researched by science. Although these small fruits are not large in size, they possess antioxidant and nutrients in mass quantities. Generally speaking, darker berries are higher in cancer-fighting nutrients and superfoods. Darker colored vegetables also have the most nutrients, therefore it makes sense that the darker colored berries also have the same type of consistency. A phenomena known as "oxidative stress" causes free radicals to abundantly appear, which can damage the cells of your body in many ways. By ingesting black raspberries, the effects of oxidative stress can be greatly reduced or diminished. Berries, as a whole, are beneficial for you, and each berry has its own specific type of quality that can be helpful to you.

Certain vitamins are antioxidants that help protect you against cancer, and beta carotene ( a form of Vitamin A) is one of the best of these. The easiest way to get high doses of beta carotene in your diet is to eat more carrots.

Aside from their high beta carotene content, carrots also supply your body with lots of healthy fiber. Carrots supply your intestines with prebiotic fiber, which helps maintain the healthy bacteria in that region. One very healthy dish to eat with or in between meals would be a mixture of carrots and cabbage. This would provide you with a day's worth of fiber and help you maintain regularity.

Indoles are are a superfood type of phytonutrient which is specific to plants such as broccoli. You should make sure you get indoles in your diet, especially if you want protection against cancer.
Indoles help to detoxify your body and protect it against certain types of cancer. Additionally, indoles help the body maintain healthy estrogen levels, which is quite significant. When the body has too much estrogen, it becomes vulnerable to illnesses such as cancer. Even if you're not aware of it, estrogen is contained in many processed foods today. If you want to prevent breast cancer, one of the best things you can do is consume foods that contain indoles.
If you care about your health, it's necessary to take a close look at your diet. Anyone who wants to prevent or treat a serious illness should learn as much about superfoods as possible.

If you need to lose weight, then start bringing these fabulous gifts into your life. It doesn't have to be painful to consume these foods, as most of them taste great. You can gradually start buying and eating more superfoods and get accustomed to them.
