Bring It: P90X Day 67

P90X is an extreme workout created by Tony Horton. Behind the entire 12 DVD program is the concept of muscle confusion, which helps those trying to change their health avoid plateaus. The series is tough and definately not something everyone will make it through, but if you are persitant and go in with a "Bring It" attitude, you will notice your body transforming throughout the 90 days.

Bring It

Today's workout is YogaX. I love doing yoga. It brings me such peace of mind. However today, I have a lot to get done and with an hour and a half workout looming on my head, all it did was create more stress. I call this a yoga fail. I am sure with the holidays being around the corner and the longer my To Do list gets, the more stressful these time-consuming workouts will end up being.

Yet, I know that I have to push play and I am determined not to miss one day, regardless of the other things I have going on in my life. So excuse the disaster around here. I just haven't had the time to get to it. I have been putting my health first.

It is necessary to put your health first, expecially when you always say yes to others. Life is busy and it adds to stress. There are so many benefits to doing yoga it is essential not to miss this workout. Not only will you increase your flexibility by practicing regularly, but it will also help with strength, breathing, and cardiovascular health. With all those benefits, why would you skip because of a time crunch. Not to mention, it is helpful in relaxing your body and relieving stress.

So while the holidays might cause additional stress in your life, don't pass up your yoga session. It will help!

Fun Yoga Facts

Yoga is a big part of many people's lives. Yet, even though many may practice, how many actually know much about it. So, for those that are interested, here are a few little pieces to give you a yoga background.

  1. In the West, yoga is used as a physical practice. However, in the East, it is more of a spiritual practice. This is probably where the confusion stems from yoga being associated with religious aspects. While it may help some with spiritual enlightenment, it doesn't have to be viewed from a religious standpoint.
  2. Yoga is a practice to balance the yin and yang. When practicing Hatha Yoga... "ha" represents the sun while "tha" represents the moon. It is about bringing opposites together.
  3. A man who practices yoga is called a yogi or yogin and a woman who practices yoga is called a yogini.
  4. Om, a word frequently used in mantras is a vibration of the world around us.
  5. Yoga may have originated from India, but today more people in California practice yoga than all of India.
  6. Yoga is beneficial to your health. It has helped alleviate chronic pain and prevent osteoporosis. It has also been used to control Asthma by practicing breathe control.
  7. While there are many different ways to pracitice yoga, when people refer to it, they are generally talking about Hatha Yoga, which is the most popular form to practice.
  8. Yoga may not only improve sex, but can also help prevent and may even treat sex problems. It can also improve orgasms since regular practice strengthens the pelvic muscles.

Just call me the Yogin With No Pants. And I dig this stuff you little yogini you! I've tried it before. A girl I was seeing in San Diego was an instructer, so I went for it. Of course this was years ago. She was beautiful, but didn't like my dog. I sent her and her Yoga packing and that was the last I tried it. I'm going to get into it, and when I do I'll obsess on it like I do everything else I do. I'll let you know when I start it, and how I'm doing kiddo! You missed my last hub, but so far it's a dud, so save yourself the time. (laughing) Serious, it sucks I think!

Jim, I guarantee that once you try this yoga stuff again... you will be obsessive. I love it. It feels great! The P90X one is pretty harsh. But I still enjoy it nonetheless.

As for your hub... I saw it and just haven't gotten to it. My daughter has had a couple of really big projects due that I had to help her with so I didn't have time to catch up on all my reading. I just got to yours right before picking the kids up from school. I am still going to read it... YOu had me at the title! LOL CAtch ya tomorrow!

I'ts gotten boo koo hits but not many comments. What's worse is the comments are freakin blah. It was supposed to be a motivational thing with some magic. I think the simplisity caused the thing to either go over their heads or just plain put them to sleep. You got a pass kiddo. I don't want it to make you fall asleep at the computer. (laughing)

I am going to do my yoga today for sure!! I need to become a professional yogini :-) lol... In all seriousness though these were interesting facts for sure! I love the health benefits of yoga... I mean you stack that with how good you feel afterwards and during... you can't replace yoga in your daily routine! I know that you are getting stressed out about trying to get everything done including your workouts and your hubs, but remember just to take it one day at a time and do not procrastinate... then you will be fine! I just do not want to see you fail this late in the game but I know how a crazy life can sometimes make failing really easy to do... Keep up the great work and enjoy your workouts everyday!!!

Jim you are too funny. I guess then you feel my pain. My P90X hubs - which I hate to admit are purely for selfish reasons... aren't really up on the radar either. A lot of my followers don't even stop by so I don't get as many comments as I do with my other hubs. That is ok because it is purely for selfish reasons. However, I do get a lot of outside hits for P90X hubs because there are other people searching to see if this program works. The negative side of this is they keep me really busy. The workout is intense and then writing about it everyday can be cumbersome to say the least. Especially now that I am so far into it because I am trying to come up with something new or spin somethign old but in a different way each day. I have a little more then 20 days left and the P90X adventure will be done. That means I will have more time for other hubs and definately for reading. I have been slacking on those that I follow because I have been so busy with this.

Oh yeah - and I got over to yours - I don't think it is a snoozer... I think it is something very important to address. Although it might be a little early considering you are talking a year from now :) But hey - got to get that stuff out early!

@Lapse - Yoga can help you... in so many ways. You definately should think about becoming a yogi or something like that. Just imagine all the ways it will improve your life! LOL

And I don't know if you see the same ads as I do... but did you notice the Love Sac Ad is on this page... ha ha - too funny since you were just commenting on my hub I wish I had a Love Sac... now I wonder what yoga and Love Sac have in common? Ah - things to ponder! LOL

@Myth - Yes - I am getting a little stressed trying to keep up with everything. I have a To Do list that never seems to finish. And while my house isn't messy, I feel like because I stay home it should be sparkly every single day because I don't really have an excuse to not have it looking good. On top of that add the holidays... which I have barely started shopping for and a kid who is constantly hanging off my leg... yeah - I guess I do have a lot on my plate. Funny because it seems other than writing my hub, I don't get much time to sit. Stupidly, we still haven't gotten completely moved in and it has been almost 3 months. But don't worry... I am pushing on. I have come this far and at the minimum I will finish the 90 days. Some days are better than others... this week has just been really off for me. But I just looked at the calendar and realized Christmas Eve and Christmas Day fall on Kenpo and Stretch. That makes me super excited. Those are going to be hectic days anyway and the fact that those are great workouts I know I will make it through.

Suprisingly, I am counting down the days... but it isn't because I don't want to do the workouts... it is becuase of the added pressure of writing about them. It will be nice when I can say I have completed this! :)

Thanks for the push - I won't fail on this one! No matter how bad it gets!

BBG - I really do need to get into Yoga - I know you ARE pushing me there by keeping the toughts in my head. I had Mick here for months and now I finally do have a little privacy and lots of extra time. Thank you for being a true soldier! Up and everything for keeping it going!

Hey would a Love Sac be a good accessory for P90X? Just an off the wall thought...

BBG. I can see how adding and extra 1 1/2 hour item on your to do list can complicate things during the holiday season. What you can do is plan out your activities so you get the most done. If you have to go out then do everything that requires you to go out together.

It can be extremely difficult, especially now, but you can always rely on an encouraging word from your followers here.

Also yoga is meant to center/focus your thoughts. Before you begin the exercises remember that there will always be time for the to do list. Nothing is so important that it can't wait an hour and a half for you to take care of yourself.

It is ok to ask others for some assistance.

@Real - I bet you would realy enjoy yoga, but I wouldn't push it too hard to begin with. Maybe the child's pose or something like that! But at least you are thinking about it... and that is the first step. Soon you will be ready for the next step! :)

barbergirl28 profile image

@Lapse - Possibly... cause when you are done and completely exhausted you can just fall into it and collapse... just a thought! LOL

@Daffy Duck - Very well said. It certainly is a mindset. And if I didn't spend an hour and half with yoga, I probably would have wasted the time elsewhere. The To Do list will always be there... but the exercise has to be done today. The stress will eventually go away. Thanks for giving me that extra push and the thought that taking care of myself comes first! :)
