How Thinking Positive Can Help With Your Sobriety

Updated on August 12, 2013

For all those that are addicted to alcohol and what to live a life of sobriety, don't give up on yourself. Never give up hope and think positive to get yourself out of the terrible rut of alcohol addiction.

When I write these articles, I write from my own experiences and I hope that what I have written may help someone else find their sobriety by my ideas, thoughts and my personal advice. I write from my heart and want to help those that want to help themselves.

When I was addicted to alcohol, I never thought in a million years that I would be totally sober and writing articles to hopefully help those with the same problem I had.

I really lived my life in a negative frame of mind, because even though I was a functioning alcoholic, I still knew that I was doing wrong to myself and my family. I did many things that were good all the while drinking the almighty beer. I built houses, remodeled houses and was very productive in everything I did, and the outcome of everything looked just fine, but there was something missing in my life. There was a huge void in my life, but didn't know how to go about filling in that void with happiness and enjoyment in my life do to my addiction to alcohol.

Many alcoholics are very productive as I was, and they do everything they should be doing to keep the family going, and going to work and so on, but sooner or later all the drinking of alcohol will finally catch up with all of us and we will start to see an decline in out productivity and happiness in our lives. Things start to fall to pieces a little at a time, so slow that it is hard to see it happening until one day we will hit rock bottom with no hope in site of retrieving our sobriety back into our lives so we think.

This is where you attitude comes into place. If you are going to walk around in a negative frame of mind you will get negative results in anything you do in life, including finding your sobriety. How thinking positive can help with your sobriety is so true, because if I didn't think positive and believed in myself, I would be still pounding down those beers everyday.

If you are the type of person that is always in a positive frame of mind you will get positive results in your life. It may take some time, but the positive results will come and that includes finding your sobriety only if you want to be sober. You first must want to change your life before anything can happen good for you. Wanting to change is the ticket to your success and getting clean and sober again.

Filling in the Missing Piece of Your Life

There are so many people in this world that are addicted to alcohol it is hard to even guess the numbers. Many of these people want sobriety so bad, because they know they are heading to a dead end road and they cry inside for help, but not willing to ask for the help they need.

Some may just say it is too late to change my life, which is so untrue, because as we know if there is a will there is a way!

Thinking and staying positive was the help I needed to get me through being addicted to alcohol and finally finding my sobriety. Without my positive attitude and telling myself I can defeat my inner demons and become clean and sober once and for all I wouldn't be writing this now.

Finding sobriety for everyone is completely different for each and every alcoholic. Each of us have to deal with our own addictions in different ways. Some alcoholics can manage to surrender to their addiction on their own as I did, and I thank God everyday for the strength and willpower to stop drinking, and there are those that need Professional help by entering a Rehab. Center in order to get the proper care and detoxing the safe way under medical supervision.

The people that enter these Rehab. Centers have to really want their sobriety back and not go into them because they were asked to or ordered to enter the Rehab. Center. The Centers and the Professionals that work in them are there to help those who want to help themselves and without you, the alcoholic wanting the help to get you sober, it will not work.

As the old saying goes, "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink."

So, if you want to change your life and start living the life of sobriety, then the first thing you must do is to change your outlook on life and start thinking positive in everything in life and you will see positive results start to happen and this includes getting yourself clean and sober.

Never ever give up on yourself, believe in yourself, stay positive, go after those dreams and goals and never quit until you achieve them and THAT INCLUDES achieving SOBRIETY!
