How To Use Positive Thinking And Subconscious Mind Power To Improve Your Life Dramatically - Part 2

Updated on August 22, 2015

Your brain is capable of processing millions pieces of information every second but if it all was presented to you without filtering, you would gone mad.

The studies show that on average, our short term memory can only hold 7 pieces of information. We couldn't possibly deal with millions in any reasonable time.

So the brain gives us only as much information as we need to make a decision. But do you know what your brain is filtering out? Are you aware of messages that simply go unnoticed?

In the How To Use Positive Thinking And Subconscious Mind Power To Improve Your Life Dramatically - Part 1 you could read about hearing and listening filters in action and how you can change the way they work. It also discussed importancy of your inner self talk and how it affects your perception.

The mechanics behind perception filters

How does this filtering work, you might ask. Whenever you read newspaper or the information on the internet, your eyes register all the content you can see there, like the job adverts or new ideas on how to earn money. If your focus is on the lack of money, your brain will discard job board straight away like it was never there. You simply won’t notice it.

Sometimes, as the filters are not 100% perfect, you may actually notice it but then you will either feel there is no point to look at them as you are sure there will be nothing for you, or you look and see nothing.

In the latter case, your eyes probably have seen a job that you might find interesting, but as your subconscious mind’s task is to prove there is nothing available - there you go, the information is hidden.

On the other hand anything related to financial struggle is highlighted. Suddenly the article topics like "The biggest crisis in this century" or "Most of families are in debt" will stand out.

Friends can help you discover your filters

The same thing happens with hearing - any radio ad about new jobs available or opportunities will be ignored by your subconscious. Here is a thought - ask your friends to write down all the advice and information they gave you in relation to finances in the past. It could be about the sources of income, dealing with debt or efficient ways of money management that you simply ignored.

You might be surprised how long the the list is. They are probably annoyed that whenever they are trying to help you, you simply don’t listen. It seem the only topic you are interested in is how much more you have to spend on a daily basis and who is in similar bad financial situation as you are. You only look for such an information to prove your concept - "I will always have financial problems and nothing changes for the better".

You have the power to change your thoughts

The good thing is that you are the main creator of your thoughts so it’s in your hands to change the focus. For that to happen, you must be aware of your own feelings and inner self talk. You need to discover your area of focus and decide what you would prefer to have instead. It’s very important to choose the thing you actually want.

If you keep telling I don’t want this or that, it still doesn’t mean you and for the matter your subconscious would know what you actually want.

If you say "I don’t want to be fat", will it automatically mean skinny or maybe anorectic? The latter is not fat as well, is it? You need to specify what the ideal outcome you want to achieve. For some skinny would mean being at the edge of starving, while others would be happy weighting an average for their height or fitting in the certain size.

Be specific and add details to describe your goals

You need to be quite specific about your expectations and the more details you can come with, the more focused you will become. As we said earlier - when you focus on something, you get more of it.

It also helps if you are excited about your goal, if you keep dreaming about it. It creates a very strong and clear message and also opens up your mind for new ideas that would help you achieve it quicker.

When you do that, then "all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it", says Paulo Coelho. Use this ability of your brain to help you out and start working on the life you would like to have.

There is no greater satisfaction than feeling a sense of achievement. This moment when you want to shout to the world "I did it!"

The beginnings are hard but the results are worthwhile

It might be hard and slow at the beginning, as you may have a tendency to focus on negatives at first, but mastery comes with the practice.

Very soon you realise that instead of moaning about things that happened to you, you will start looking for the ways to use the situation to help you in your mission.

It doesn’t mean that bad things will not happen to you but if you think them through, it may turn out that actually they are not bad at all. That in fact, they are perfect in this case and can help you move forward, especially if you were stuck in certain situations.

The good example might be when you are in a job you hate but you cannot just simply leave as there are too many aspects to it. You might be worried you don’t get a new job or that you will be worse off, or that you are not good enough or anything similar.

Sometimes there is a shock before it gets better

Still you want to have a great job, so you try hard to focus on it. Add details to ideal picture - what would it be like? What would you do, how much would you earn and what people would you work with? What is important for you in a workplace, a challenge, a quiet spot or that it’s always something going on?

After a while of constant focus on this aspect and brainstorming ideas for solutions, you may suddenly got fired. I don’t say it will happen but it might. You might think - hey, that’s not good! Is that true? It actually might be the only way to help you to get unstuck so this is what happens. You were not able to make such a decision yourself because of the other factors, so the decision was made for you to move you forward.

Hoefully it will be much easier, like a transfer to a different department when you will feel much better or maybe something will change in your working place so suddenly everything become much nicer and bearable.

As long as you focus on things that you want, the events will lead to the happy ending even if with a few bumps in the middle.
