Are You Enslaved By the Hype of Society?

Updated on March 9, 2010

There are many people today who think that if you do not work hard enough or that you do things that they would not do that you are less of a person. I think these kinds of people are not very happy. They live in a world of contention and they always seem to be having many problems in their lives. I am going to go into the unknown, into the world that no one really likes to talk about. I am going to talk about personal happiness and about the people who think that you are not good enough because you like to do things that they may not understand or they do not approve of.

So you like to work part time, you own a used car, you like to play video games, and you like to sit back and relax on your days off, you are happy with your life. Don't let the people who are around you bring you down. They tell you that you are not working hard enough or that you are lazy or worthless, do not allow others to judge you and make you feel bad that you are living your life the way you want to.

I don't want you to get confused with what I am saying. I am not saying that you should sit back, relax and be broke all of the time and go into debt. You need to do what you need to do to set yourself up to be happy and to be able to pay all of your bills. If you are happy living in a 3 bedroom trailer house and driving a used pick up truck- that is all paid for- and having a little extra money to go do some of the things that you like to do, then I say do it . If you need the new four bedroom house and brand spanking new car, well that is all good too if you get happiness out of the deal also.

What is personal happiness? Is it having time with your family and living a little bit of a lower lifestyle or is it working all the time making enough money to pay for that big mortgage and car payment and/or being gone all the time? Just because you work the long hours and get all of those nice things, does that make you happy? You must look inside yourself to be sure. My money goes to my bills, food, the things my kids need and fun, good times. What more could I ask for?

You will have to decide for yourself what makes you happy and if you are going to let the people in your lives run it. Just because someone says you are not working hard enough or that what you are doing with your life is useless {Just ignore it} and go on living happy.
