How to reverse aging in the skin

Updated on January 1, 2012

It's Hormonal

Looking younger is not as hard as it would seem. Every year, billions of dollars are spent for cosmetic treatments to hide lines and wrinkles or worse to surgically get rid of them. The bags under the eyes often times are treated under the knife or highlighting makeup techniques are employed to mask them.

Essentially, when we look at a person, we see skin. Most people think of skin as simply a 'bag to cover the guts' so to speak. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the skin is the largest organ of the body and possibly the most versitile as well. It is a very active organ that contain many layers which provide services like repelling germs, waste removal, tempurature regulation, pheromone production, collecting tactile and environmental data and so forth. This magnificent creation of organic genius has the ability to bend, stretch and retract incredibly when we are young, but as we age, this ability slows or even halts altogether. That is because young skin contains both collagen and elastin. Collagen gives skin its thickness, but elastin gives it the ability to snap back when pulled. As we age, skin loses this ability because less elastin is produced and skin thins due to a decrease in collagen production.

Luckily, these negative aspects of aging can not only be avoided, but can be reversed as well! The creation of elastin is inhibited through the action of the hormone DHT, the same hormone found to cause male pattern baldness and benign prostate hyperplasia. By simply blocking the DHT, you permit the skin to produce elastin once again at youthful levels. One very effective weapon against DHT is saw palmetto oil. The extract is used to treat prostate hyperplasia, but the oil can be provided in the form of a lotion or cream and worked into the skin to yield excellent results. The purer the oil, the better (and faster) the results.

You may have noticed that after taking the HGH for about three months (see:"How to reverse aging"), fine lines began disappearing and your skin seemed thicker. If you have been following the program outiled, your system is in optimal condition to reverse the damage that years of mistreatment by the elements has caused.

Perhaps you have noticed that women who are pregnant seem to have a healthy, youthful glow to their skin. This is because the hormone progesterone is busy at work. Women produce progesterone in the ovaries when one of them releases an egg, this serves as a signal to the other ovary to refrain from releasing another egg at the same time. Interestingly, progesterone also gets metabolised into Epidermal Growth Factor 1 (EGF-1) which literally causes you to MAKE YOUNG SKIN! When you have a good level of progesterone, you not only look healthy, but your skin begins manufacturing elastin in greater quantities.

Progesterone also has the ability to down regulate other hormones such as estradiol and estrone. When levels of estrogen get too high, for example, the danger of breast, cervical, and even prostate cancer increases. High levels of estradiol causes weight gain and redistribution of weight known as middle aged spread. Interestingly enough, men can take progestrone as well since it has no estrogenizing effects. Progestrone is available in either injections, pills, or topical cream. Since we are dealing with the skin, a topical cream may be the wisest selection. In as little as a week, you should notice a younger look and feel to your skin. In this time, you may experience pimples which will clear up quickly. In essence, pimples are a part of young skin as well (remember high school?). Within three months, you will be amazed at how fast wrinkles are fading and radiant your skin looks.

If you have any problem acquiring the palmetto oil or the progesterone cream, feel free to e-mail me: tom.greenwell@yahoo.com and I can help you locate them.
