Naturogenix: Natural Supplements and Therapies for those with Chronic Conditions

Updated on August 24, 2014

I am a writer, blogger, youtuber and video game streamer, I have several facebook pages, blogs and more.

My own story dealing with chronic health conditions

In 2009/2010 I started having unexplainable and rather mysterious health issues. I had troubles focusing, thinking clearly, feeling very spacey and out of it, and eventually gaining back a lot of the weight I had lost (I got down to 240ish lbs). I was very fatigued, emotionally and mentally I was all over the place. I even had some rather bad digestive problems as well.

After about 3-4 years of going to doctors and specialists, and even hiring a world renown specialist in nutrition and digestive problems I had little progress. I then came across Chris Kresser's website at www.chriskresser.com, Through finding the website I started to learn more and more about all kinds of chronic conditions, healthy living and even found more resources and doctors/naturopaths to help me out. While eventually looking at a rather rare and controversial condition pyroluria (http://www.primalbody-primalmind.com/do-you-have-pyroluria/) I then heard about Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylenetetrahydrofolate_reductase) mutations and other SNPs which can cause all sorts of health problems.

Eventually I decided to take a 23andme test (www.23andme.com) after confirming I did have the double A1298 MTHFR mutation, to find out I had plenty of other Single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single-nucleotide_polymorphism) mutations. I have since learned a lot and have tired all kinds of natural therapies, supplements and even new doctors/specialists. My hope is that no one will ever have to deal with these health issues.

Your Personal Paleo Code: The 3-Step Plan to Lose Weight, Reverse Disease, and Stay Fit and Healthy for Life
This book is very helpful in adjusting to and getting started in a paleo diet. Personalizing your diet to your unique condition and life situation is very important. Chris Kresser has been a big help for me on my healing journey so to speak.

Supplements and resources provided on the website

On my website I currently am selling Seeking Health and Holistic Health products. I will add more suppliers and products over time. As of now there are close to 20 products. I supply health tests and screening as well. These tests and screenings are not covered by health insurance.

Seeking Health and Holistic Health are naturally made with no added chemicals, preservatives or fillers. Seeking Health is ran by Dr. Ben Lynch and Seeking Health by Dr. Amy Yasko, well known researchers/experts in the field of methylation/detoxification. For more information on methylation/detoxification check out my squidoo lens at: http://www.squidoo.com/when-and-how-to-test-for-methylation-defects.

I also offer links and resources as well. I have links to several sources of information on chronic conditions, especially mthfr and detoxification issues. I also will keep a blog updated on the website as well. I have links to other blogs I write for as well, specifically Psynautical and Paleo Redux. Paleo Redux is my blog about health, fitness, I have links to my hubpage, squidoo and ezine articles on paleo redux.

Psynautical is my blog about spirituality, personal development, politics, philosophy and more, so far I only have one hubpage but want to start adding more over time. I feel the mental aspect of chronic conditions such as chronic fatigue and mthfr issues is often overlooked, so that is why I have decided to add Psynautical to my website.

Recommended Resources

Chris Kresser's website (www.chriskresser.com) is a wonderful website not only on the paleo template diet but also treating chronic health conditions as well. Chris Kresser recently came out with (which I would highly recommend) a book and was able to meet him as well.

MTHFR support (http://www.mthfrsupport.com/) is another awesome resource for information on MTHFR issues. You can find practitioners that specialize in MTHFR as well as getting the raw data of a 23andme test analyzed for mthfr, methylation and detoxification SNPs.

Insight Naturopathy (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Insight-Naturopathy/226698217365990) is a great resource on methylation issues as well as pyroluria and other chronic health conditions.

MTHFR.net is a wonderful resource, it is ran by Dr. Ben Lynch who also owns the supplement line Seeking Health (which I carry at naturogenix). He has a ton of free presentations/videos on his website and youtube.

Dr. Amy Yasko (http://www.dramyyasko.com/) has been studying methylation and its connecting to Autism and other connections for years. She has written several books, articles and done several presentations some of which are available for free on her website (I would highly recommend pathways to success). She also owns the supplement line, and diagnostic test company Holistic Health.

Genetic Genie (http://geneticgenie.org/) is a website with information on methylation and detoxification issues and provides a free analysis of 23andme raw data to see if you have any methylation and/or detoxification SNPs.

The 21 Convention (www.the21convention.com) is an annual convention on health, dating, business, self development and more. On the website you can find all the presentations for free as well as a forum and other free resources as well. It is where I first heard about the Paleo Diet and High Intensity weight training.

I would also highly recommend the books Hypothyroidism type 2, Lights Out and Could it be B12. Those three health books, aside from Chris Kresser's recent book have been a big help. Thyroid problems are a lot more common and widespread than people commonly think and cause a lot of problems and are often associated with mthfr issues. B12 deficiency and/or folate deficiency

Hypothyroidism Type 2

Hypothyroidism Type 2: The Epidemic - Revised 2013 Edition
Hypothyroidism Type 2: The Epidemic - Revised 2013 Edition
Hypothyroidism and subclinical hypothyroidism (hypothyroidism type 2) are much more prevalent than people commonly believe. It is difficult to detect subclinical hypothyroidism without a full thyroid panel and a competent health professional (preferably naturopathic or functional medicine practitioner). I have written about it more here: http://www.squidoo.com/hypothyroidism-type-2

Could it be B12?

Could It Be B12?: An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses
Could It Be B12?: An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses
B12 deficiency is much more common than typically thought. This can affect nearly anyone at any age due to a number of genetic issues, health issues, surgeries, medications, treatments and more (specifically Nitric Oxide). Folate deficiency (seen in those with MTHFR mutations) is often seen alongside B12 as well. Testing for and treating it is a lot more complicated then you have been led to believe. In some cases there may be shown a false positive B12 test showing normal levels of B12 when in fact it is low. B12 is one of the most important b vitamins, especially for your body and your nervous system. Deficiency of b12 can potentially cause nerve and/or brain damage.

Other projects/blogs I work on

Aside from Naturogenix, I write articles on hubpages, squidoo and ezinearticles as well as a few blogs. Paleo redux is a blog I write about health and fitness topics ranging from chronic health conditions, supplements, functional exercise and more. You can find the blog at www.paleoredux.blogspot.com

Another blog I run is Razr Entertainment, where I write about video games, books, comic books and more. You can find the blog at www.razrgaming.blogspot.com.

Psynautical is my latest blog that I run that I write about philosophy, spirituality, politics, martial arts and more. You can find it at www.facebook.com/psynautical.

I also make videos that accompany most of the articles that I write as well. In the past I have written for a few blogs which I no longer run. In the future I may plan on going back to college and studying naturopathy and either opening up a clinic or doing research. Right now I am focused on writing and building up my blogs but also on my healing journey as well to improve my health and write/blog about that as well.

In the past I have written for some various blogs and websites but didn't get into it too seriously but they were similar to the current blogs I run.
