Getting High Smoking Nutmeg

Getting High on Nutmeg

Growing up in the 60s and also working in the health field for 25 years, I have had my share of drug experiences. I am not writing this hub to tell you about all the things I did as a kid. I would also be a hypocryte if I were to tell you not to do drugs because they might harm your body in some way shape or form.

You are also aware that just because an MD tells you that something will help you doesn't mean that it will. You have to take responsibility for your own body. You might need it for a while. Believe me , when I was a teenager I never ever thought that I would live to be a senior citizen.

The real reason I am writing this hub is to explain to people that if your kids want to experiment with drugs they will. Its interesting to me that I have raised my children as I was raised. My father didn't restrict drug use in the home. We could drink and experiment with drugs but we had to keep it at home.

This is not a recommendation for anyone I am just sharing with you how I was brought up and also how my children have been brought up. I had seen enough of the drug seen to know that it was just a faze for me. I am not interested in taking drugs . If they are prescribed by a doctor I am even less interested.

My father educated us on drugs he didn't want us going out into the world taking advice from some kid that heard it from his big brother sort of a thing. Consequently we avoided a lot of grief because we knew what was out there and just because of the fact that my dad took the time to tell us what was going on in the world of black market drugs, we really didn't want anything to do with any of that crap.

My Dad couldn't look us in the face and tell us not to use drugs but he had a interesting way of allowing us to use the crap until we were over it ourselves. This method worked with liquor and cigarettes also. So well in fact that I would not even date a girl if she smoked or was a every weekend party girl type.

For me surfing is the ultimate high and yes I am addicted. Call it what you will an adrenaline junkie or what ever you want. Even if I do not catch any waves that day I can still sit in the ocean and watch the fish and the birds.

Yes I am still getting high! Surfing the winter swells in Hawaii is a natural high. I suggest that if you like to get high like me that you find a natural productive way to get high. One that is not self destructive , one that you can obsess over if you want to just like a drug. But maybe the obsession will lead to better health and a more balanced life.

Isn't that what most of us want in life just a bit of balance?
