Positive Attitudes Can Grow On You

Updated on August 12, 2013

Thinking Positive

Have you ever gone to a Shopping Mall and just sat on the bench and watched people come and go? Have you taken notice of all the different looks on ones face? Have you notice the different walks that these people have while they are strolling along the isles looking for that great buy?

You can tell by looking at these people and their facial expression just how they are feeling. Some faces look to be very sad. Some faces have the look of worry, and then we have the faces that tend to be very happy and content. These happy and content faces are far and few between nowadays, at least what I have seen over the last few of years.

As we all know, many people in our society today have many problems. Most of these people keep their problems inside of them, but the facial expressions says it all.

Some may have an illness in their family or a very sick friend which would take a toll of this person attitude.

Some may have some really bad financial problems, but embarrassed to speak about it. There can be so many different things that would make a person feel down in the dumps and just living in a negative world. They can't seem to be able to snap out of their negative world they live in.

Then we have the people that have everything they could possibly want in life, and they too are miserable with their life. Why is it that you see people that have everything, and they are negative and miserable?

My answer to that is that they are basically spoiled people. There is never enough for these people to make them truly happy and content with their life. Nothing is good enough for them, they just want more, and yes I was one of them. I was told by my parents that I could be given the world on a silver platter and still wouldn't be happy. Years ago this was very true for me, nothing was good enough, I always wanted more.

Maybe there is an answer for all these people, to be able to find positivity in their lives. I can relate to all of the above because I was one of these people that lived in a world of negativity, and the biggest problem was all do to being addicted to alcohol.

The more I drank, the more I dreamed, and the more I said poor little me. Why me I would always asked.

I had a wonderful family life, two beautiful parents and one great sister. Always had food on the table and a roof over my head. Never got sick and very healthy through the years, but still that wasn't enough for me.

There were many days and nights I was so positive and happy outside, but deep down I was crying of negative thoughts. The alcohol made me look to others as if I had the world right in the palm of my hands. Little did anyone know it was the booze speaking for me and not my real self.

Over the last year or so, I have found out that positive attitudes can grow on you, and I am proof of this.

Being clean and sober gave me a new outlook on life and I found that thinking positive can change anyone life if you want it to take over.

I think now, how in the world can anyone be happy, or to be able to go after their dreams and goals when we are so down on everything in life?

I had now found the answer to the question I have been searching for all my adult years.

I never gave it a thought, that the mind is a very powerful thing, and that anyone could change it's thinking and thoughts. We all have the power to control our thoughts and action and how we want to feel.

Everyone has something tragic happen to them in ones life time and other things that may upset the apple cart and place a damper on things for awhile, but you can't dwell on this in a negative way. You must try your hardest to make something negative that's happened in life into a positive thing.

They say everything happens for a reason and people including myself wonder why this is. This reason is to make us stronger people and to appreciate what we have now, and to be thankful for all we have in life and not just wanting more and more.

So, my feeling now is that if you give yourself a chance to feel real happiness in your life you will want to keep that positive attitude no matter what road blocks or problems arise.  Just keep thinking everything will be alright and that you can and will beat the word negativity right out of your vocabulary.

Give Positivity a chance and you will see just how it can grow on you!

Always remember,
" Believe you will Achieve in anything in life".
