Simple Ways to Look Younger

Updated on August 18, 2011

Ask any women over 25 her age and see what she says. Probably something like, “None of your business” or “A woman never tells her real age”. Unfortunately, the aging process is something that happens to all of us. With our years, we also lose our firm skin and bodies. Every woman wants to appear younger.

Have you wanted to go back in time and still know the things you know now? Everyone has. This article gives advice on things you can start doing now to slow the aging process so that you don’t look back 10 years from now and wish you had done things differently. It also offers advice on things you can do now to make yourself look younger instantly.

Stay out of the sun

Probably the most important factor in keeping your youthful appearance is to wear sun block regularly and avoid sunbathing. Sure, having a sunny glow will make you look younger and thinner now but in the long run it has very damaging and aging effects on your skin. Try using a spray or rub on tan instead of tanning beds or the sun and 10 years down the road you will be happy you did. If you want to spend the day at the pool or beach, always wear sun block, especially on your face, neck and chest.

Exercise

You don’t necessarily have to be thin and have a perfect body to look younger but exercise will help. Not only will it help you shed pounds but it will also give you more energy throughout the day and leave you in a better mood. Women tend to have problems with their arms, thighs, and bellies as they age. A simple routine such as 100 push-up, 100 sit-ups, and 100 squats  just 3 times a week can make a difference in how you look and feel.

Lotion, lotion, and more lotion

This is definitely one of those things I wish someone would have warned me about ten years ago. No one understands the importance of using lotion daily until they begin to age and see the results of not using it that often. Face lotion needs to be spread not only on your face, but also on your neck and chest. If not, you are going to get the “turkey neck” in a few years. The belly, thighs and upper arms are also prone to sagging and stretch marks. Applying lotion generously everyday can help prevent these from happening.

Teeth whitening

Because you look at your teeth every day, you may not notice how much of their white luster they have lost. A bright white smile can drastically change your appearance and make you look younger immediately. Your dentist can offer specialty whitening services that produce immediate effects. If you want to save money, over the counter whitening treatments can be just as effective when used over the course of several weeks.

Keep a fresh do

Let’s face it. Our hair ages just like the rest of us does. Over time it gets stringy and frizzy and the dreaded gray hairs start to appear. Long hair is beautiful if it’s healthy but if you have hair halfway down your back that is dry and frizzy, you are better off getting rid of it. Go for a shorter look to get rid of all the dead stuff, add some layers and a little color to cover the grays and add shine. One thing to avoid is a flat iron. A flat iron will kill your hair faster than anything else in the world. It looks great at first, but after a couple of months of using it every day, you won’t be able to leave the house without using it because your hair will be so fried.

Good jeans

A single pair of good jeans can make your legs, butt, and tummy look 10 years younger instantly. So many women get caught up in the “mom jeans” as they get older. You know the ones with the tapered ankles, pleated fronts, and really wide bottoms. Go the mall and buy a nice pair of good jeans that will lift your butt, slim your thighs and tummy, and boost your confidence.
