The Number One Killing Drug In America

Updated on April 1, 2013

What drug claims lives more than 50 times all other illegal drugs combined? Which drug costs the American people over 130 billion dollars to clean up the damages caused by using this drug? Which drug dissembles 1 & 4 families & kills over 200,000 Americans every year? Well... It isn't crack/cocaine. It isn't even meth or heroine! The number one deadliest labeled drug in the United States is... ALCOHOL!

The numbers don't lie people. If you can recall, 57,000+ Americans died in the Viet Nam War. In that same 9 years, over two million were killed from alcohol use. Protesters were found all over the US against that war but never once did you hear of protesters against alcohol. No body says a word, no one opens their mouths, even with the numbers all around. Children suffer every year, estimated over 7 million, because of alcohol induced abuse, incest and torture.

Alcohol Advertising

Over 400 million dollars is spent each year by the alcohol industry just for advertising. By the age of 18, on average, American children have seen 100,000 beer commercials. That is not including other forms of alcohol like vodka and liquor. Every single day 10 young people (including under the legal age of 21) die from alcohol related accidents or alcohol induced situations. Sports are among the highest grossing viewed TV programming (NBA, MLB, NFL) and they are all flooded with alcohol commercials for every game.

Drunk Driving

It has been averaged out that every 50th car on the road is being powered by a drunk driver. Almost 700 people are killed by a drunk driver each week, 100 every day, 5 an hour... one every 12 minutes. Over 25 million Americans have died from alcohol induced accidents. Why doesn't anyone question this or acknowledge it on the news? More deaths are accountable from drunk driving accidents each year then disease/illness. Parents are shown to be relieved to find out their children are under age/legal age drinking rather then using other drugs. What parents fail to understand is that the number one contributing drug to death for young adults ages 16 to 24 is alcohol related accidents. There are specials found all over TV and the internet about gun control and the dangers of guns... What about alcohol? In most cases, gang related shootings and accidental shootings are by people under the influence of alcohol.

Alcohol Kills

There is an estimated 18 million alcoholics in America alone. Over indulgence in alcohol leads to cirrhosis of the liver which kills 30,000 people each year. Over 50% of people on welfare are a result of alcohol use, over 80% of fire deaths is due to alcohol, 65% of drownings... 22% of home accidents, 77% of falls, 36% of pedestrian accidents, and over 80% of all arrests are linked to alcohol. The numbers don't stop there. Alcohol is accountable for being in the system of over 65% of all murders, 40% of all assault, 35% of all rapes, 30% of other sex crimes & 30% of people who have committed suicide. One of the worst & most terrifying is 60% of all child abuse is a result of alcohol use. People are all for the war against drugs, crack/cocaine, heroine & even marijuana but no one dares wage a war against alcohol.

Home Wrecker

Alcohol can cause an otherwise faithful loving man or woman forget their marriage vows. At this moment, ever 2 in 3 marriages end in divorce and 2 in every 3 adults drinks alcohol. A judge in Miami shocked everyone with the news that a whopping 90% of all divorces are caused by drinking problems. What about the children who end up in foster homes? 85% of them are there thanks to alcohol use. Then there is the dangers of child and women abuse linked to alcohol. God only knows how many women & children are beating each year because of it. Many women stay out of guilt and fear. Not many even speak out for help! Mental illness as well as homelessness is thriving in America. When 20 doctors & scientists were asked in Pageant Magazine “What is the greatest single cause of insanity in the US?” They all said, without exception, alcohol.

One Drink CAN Hurt You

I am sure you have heard the saying “One or two drinks won't hurt you.” or “An occasional drink may be good for your health.” but that is not true. US News & World had an article that reports “Alcohol begins to alter the functioning of virtually every single organ from the moment it enter the body.” They even believe that an occasional drink can be dangerous. The Bible speaks of alcohol and says in Proverbs 23:29-33 “Who hath woe? Who hath sorrow? Who hath contentions? Who hath babbling? Who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of the eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the win when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last in biteth like a serpent and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.” Do you know what “at last it biteth like a serpent” means? Its referring to a snake bite and what are snakes commonly known for when biting? Poison! Yes... Alcohol in any form is POISON to your body. Scientific data confirms that alcohol is the most physically deteriorating drug there is. Alcohol causes more organic damage than any other drug there is. The effects you feel when you are buzzed or drunk is your body telling you , you are poisoned! They call it intoxicated for a reason. When a man is drunk, he has literally poisoned himself. The slurring many people develop when drunk can be explained, this is a recent discovery. The physical process that creates the slurred speech is from alcohol causing a coagulation of the red corpuscles. The blood starts to thicken and can't flow freely, then clogs the metabolic exchange of oxygen. The cells become deprived of oxygen and then they die. Because the brain cells need high oxygen amounts to work continuously, they are the most vulnerable. Brain cells are also the only cells that do not reproduce. When ones speech is slurred, it is a sign that oxygen levels are low and that you are likely killing brain cells. You do not have to be drunk for this to take effect, it only takes one drink to begin to destroy cells in your body and in your brain.

Didn't Jesus Drink Wine?

Many people say that Jesus drank alcohol, particularly, wine. There is a clear distinction between fermented liquor and new wine (grape juice). As for fermented liquor, Proverbs 23 reads “Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent and stingeth like an adder.” Red is referring to the fermentation of grapes and moving aright (upwards) is speaking about the carbonation of the wine. Grape juice doesn't have carbonation, but wine does. As for the new wine (grape juice) we look to Isaiah 65:8 “as the new wine is found in the cluster.” You can't get fermented liquor from a cluster. Fermented liqour is placed in a bottle with yeast and let to stand to ferment. In Genesis 40:11 is reads “I took grapes and pressed them in the pharaoh's cup.” People say Jesus drank wine at the last supper though the word “wine” is not present anywhere in Mathew, Mark or Luke where the account of the last supper can be read. The Bible reads that Jesus drank “Fruit of the vine” which is grape juice! Wine is not from the vine, it is from the bottle. Grape juice is made from taking grapes in clusters & bunches, smashing them and drinking them. Back then, grape juice was made fresh in the cup, not drained, stored or bottled. Wine is from grapes, singly stripped from vines, smashed & fermented with yeast and set to cultivate. By letting grapes ferment, the juice from the grapes turns into ethyl alcohol, or “Ethanol” which is a recognized poison. What about Jesus turning water into wine? Jesus did not make fermented liqour (alcoholic wine) but made new wine (grape juice). How can we be sure of this? In Habakkuk 2:15 we read “Woe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also..” If Jesus turned water into fermented wine, he was disobeying Habakkuk which means he was a sinner. In 1Peter 2:22, 2Corinthians 5:21, and many other verses... We can see that Jesus was WITHOUT sin!

Is it worth it?

-18 million (and growing) alcoholics are in America

-Cirrhosis of the liver kills over 30,000 each year

-50% of people that use welfare, are using it because of alcohol

-80% of all fire deaths are cause from alcohol

-80% of all arrests are linked to alcohol use

-65% of drownings are caused from alcohol

-22% of all home accidents are caused from alcohol

-77% of all falls are caused from alcohol

-36% of pedestrian accidents are from alcohol

-65% of all murders, the murderer is under the influence of alcohol

-40% of all assaults, the assaulter is under the influence of alcohol

-35% of all rapes, the rapist is under the influence of alcohol

-30% of other sex crimes, the criminal is under the influence of alcohol

-30% of all suicides, alcohol was involved

-60% of all child abuse, the abuser is under the influence of alcohol

If you were given a bottle of labeled poison that can lead to health problems and possibly even death... Would you drink it? Alcohol is poison and should be treated like it. Is alcohol really worth it? Is it worth destroying your body, putting others in danger, destroying relationships and hurting the ones who love you most?

Jesus said...

“IF ANY MAN THIRST, let him come unto me, and drink." John 7:37
