Is patience something that can be developed or learned over time?

I think so. Patience isn't really something that we are born with. Babies don't understand that their parents are in the  middle of something and will feed them in just a minute. Little kids don't always understand that there is a conversation that is going on already and that they shouldn't interrupt. These are things that we learn by experience over time.

Even as adults, there are some things that we are impatient about. Waiting in traffic, the guy that brings 25 items to the 10 items or less lane, or waiting for that perfect thing we ordered to come in the mail, but, for the most part, we have learned that trying to rush things can end up causing more hassles, and therefore taking more time, than just being patient.

Patience is something we are born with yet can adjust in life. We are born with a level of patience. Some people can wait all day and make excuses validating why they are waiting. However, others shout and make a scene when they are not helped in 30 minutes. Most of the people who get upset also have certain qualities such as easily irritable and selfish. The key to adjusting patience length is discipline.

Yes, patience is definitely something that is developed and learned. It varies very much between people as to what triggers the impatience button. There are many factors that play into the impatience trigger; expectations, maybe not feeling well, even balance of hormones! If someone is stuck in  an impatience problem, I don't think necessarily easy to sort out.

By working diligently on your patience, you will find your moments of impatience get shorter and shorter until you are out ahead of yourself and in control. Like Winston Churchill said, "Never, never never quit."
