Create A Festive Mood With Christmas Lighting

Updated on March 21, 2011

Christmas lighting is a simple and beautiful way to light up the holiday season inside and outside of your home. Christmas lighting can be as simple as strategically placing a few candles around your home, or a bit more festive with strands of Christmas lights or lighted figures. Lighting can stand-alone or can be incorporated into a larger holiday decorating scheme. Putting up some Christmas lights can be a fun activity, and even something that the whole family does together. Anything that gets the family together is worth doing!

Christmas lighting has really taken off over the last few years with a new type of lights being invented seemingly every holiday season. Christmas lighting has gotten easier though, so even if you have never decorated with lights you can do a great job in just a short amount of time.

Christmas lighting is also relatively cheap, so that you can create the lighting images that you want without breaking the bank. Of course, with Christmas lighting and decorating you can spend a ton, but even if you are working on a budget you can succeed at beautiful Christmas lighting.

Christmas lighting can be done beautifully indoors. Many families will wrap banisters with strands or ropes of lights, or entwine garland with a strand of lights to create a beautiful look! You can also hang strands of lights in doorways, on mantels, and even in windows to complete your indoor Christmas lighting and decorating scheme.

You can incorporate other lighted objects or figurines, as well as just strands of lights. Many retail stores carry some really beautiful and festive lighted figurines and ornaments that you can use inside to make your Christmas lighting more than just strands of Christmas lights.

Christmas lighting can really take on a life of its own outdoors. You can wrap tree trunks, wrap bushes and ground cover, light up walk ways, use lighted blow up decorations, and light up the roofline of your house! Christmas lighting is in all its glory outdoors where animated characters can be strewn about your yard to create a Christmas wonderland! Fiber optic characters can also add to the fun, as that seems to be a new trend this year.

Lighted signs, fences, and decorations in all shapes and sizes can be added to your Christmas lighting plan. These types of lighted outdoor decorations can be a lot of fun to put up, and you'll draw the attention and admiration of all your neighbors. Everyone who happens to pass by your home will be lit up with Christmas cheer and will want to spread it to others. Even better, your Christmas lighting will be contagious and you can watch as your neighbors all start to put up their own decorations!

Christmas lighting is fun, and you can do a little or do a lot, depending on what you are looking to achieve! Putting up lights and lighted decorations can bring the whole family together so that you can have a lot of fun as a family and take pride in your lighted areas!
