For Your Table

To complete your Christmas table theme, use a table runner. It can be a valuable part of your Holiday table setting. With or without a matching tablecloth or place mats, it will add dimension to your chosen décor.

In my search for table runners, I have discovered some beautiful runners with intensely rich color and some more neutral in appearance, to be used in a more formal setting. They can be fun and they can be elegant. Choose your favorite and begin planning your table décor.

When my table is not in use, I leave a table runner on it for added charm and color. It also protects the wood on my table. Place a centerpiece on the runner for a focal point. Add other table items around your centerpiece as needed. These can include candles, plants, trays, whatever you choose to decorate with.

Runners can be used on the dining room table and also on the kitchen table. I use a more casual and colorful runner in my kitchen eating area.

Different Seasons

Table runners can be changed from season to season. For Fall, use fall colors and designs. Amazon has a great choice of colors and designs. For Spring, try using a lighter color of fabric to reflect the change from winter.

I decorate with cloth napkins that coordinate with my runner and place mats. A pretty napkin holder can add a finished touch to the appearance of your table. If you don't like washing the cloth napkins, use paper napkins when you eat and let the fancy napkins be mere decorations.

Runners can be used for weddings, parties, almost anywhere. I have seen table runners on entry hall tables by the front door. They are excellent tools for decorating. Did you ever notice that table runners are often used in gift shops to add color and variety to store shelves?
