Decorating your Topiary
The topiary foundation is ready made or purchased and ready to be decorated. Start by affixing your styrofoam ball onto the nail of the topiary foundation. If you did not get it straight the first time, do it again. Once it is straight, take it off the topiary foundation and mark the nail hole with a magic marker. This will easily display the bottom while you decorate the ball and the only way you will know how to put it back on straight.
Step 1: Glue your eggs onto the styrofoam ball so that they are evenly spaced leaving more open space on the bottom of the ball for bows (see picture).
Step 2: Glue the peeps so that they are evenly distributed on the ball. You can also put some peeps in a nest in the pot too.
Step 3: Take the flowers off the bouquet. Choose the design of your choice with alternating flowers around the peeps and eggs. It's your design so do what looks good to you. I used smaller flowers. You will either glue these onto the styrofoam ball or if they have enough stem you can simply stick them in separately to fill in the areas around the peeps and eggs until the bare areas are totally covered; except at the bottom of the ball (an area about on inch away from and around the nail hole.
Step 4: I like to pin the ribbon so there is no glue on my ribbon. Loop your ribbon put a pin in it and stick it in. The length of the tails are up to you.
Step 5: Set your ball aside while you decorate the topiary foundation base. I used the remaining greens from the bouquet for the tall grass. Use a wire and tie it to the bottom of the foundation so it will not move. Fill in the rest of the foundation with easter grass of whatever color you choose.
Step 6: Add three bigger eggs to the nest or real eggs that were colored by the family.
The kids will love it, if you use the eggs they colored. You can also use this as an easter basket centerpiece by putting candy and treats in the base on the easter grass. Filling the bottom with jelly beans could be fun; if yuou use sugarless be careful not to feed to dog. They likely are sweetened by Xylitol. This is great for kids; bad for dogs.
