Great Gifts that are Made In USA

Some people like to buy locally to reduce their carbon footprint. They don't like the shipping of materials overseas, and finished products back, and want to reduce the use of fuel and natural resources. Some people feel it is their patriotic duty to buy products made in their own country so that they can keep the jobs in their own country and support their national economy.

Sometimes, however, it is difficult to find products that are made in our own country. If you put "Made in USA" in a search bar on a retailer's website, you may not get any hits, or you will get many false positives that will give you products that have "America" on the label even though the product is made in China or elsewhere. Other times you will get hits when someone who wrote a review of a product lists "USA" as their address. I have scoured Amazon to find some great gifts for adults that are made in the USA. For children's gifts, please see Best Children's Gifts Made in the USA.

All of these products are made in USA according to Amazon's product descriptions, and would make great gifts for Christmas, birthdays, and any other gift-giving occasion.

Thank you mljdgulley354. I agree with you. People in other countries should support their own countries as well. It saves transportation cost its impact on the environment. The important thing is to buy locally as much as possible to support your local economy. When I look at home repair or buying things, I try to buy from places in my neighborhood, so that the businesses stay in my neighborhood.

Thank you for sharing this information. It is important to support our own businesses here as much as it is important for other countries to support the businesses they have. I like to look around at what is being made where I live and here in Southern Oregon there is a lot of people making neat stuff to give as gifts. Loved this hub and the work you put into it is awesome.

Thank you alocsin, phdast7, tammyswallow, cebutouristspot and urmilashukla23.

This was a fun list to create. It is difficult to find the items that are made in the USA, but there are a lot of good ones out there. The gorilla got my attention as well, and they had other big stuffed animals.

Either way, I'm sure people appreciate a traditional gift from the U.S. as much as we appreciate traditional gifts from their countries.

Thanks for reading and commenting stephaniedas. I have given chocolate buckeyes to guests from other countries, and have been told that they have a love / hate relationship with these sweet treats. Apparently, the Japanese are not comfortable with that much sugar, but the younger ones have become accustomed to it. All the people I have shared them with loved them, or at least that's what they told me.

Hey, that bottle of maple syrup looks familiar..wait a sec, it's in my fridge. Not only are these great for Christmas, but they are good gifts to take abroad and give to foreigners. I have had foreigners love and hate the maple syrup :)

Thanks jeyaramd. Farmers markets and local craft bazaars certainly are the best ways to get local goods. You do have to take those opportunities when they are available, and when you do, you aren't just helping the country, you are helping your specific locality, which is even better.

Supporting our local economy is not the easiest thing. As you mentioned finding these products are not the easiest. Sometimes, its easier buying food items from the farmer's market. There is less confusion and we always need vegetables and fruits. Its unfortunate that they are closed during the winter. Thanks for the list. Great hub.
