My Little Treasure Box Of Halloween Costumes From The Past.
Our Little Box Of Halloween Memories
Halloween is my favorite time of year, and my favorite holiday. The chill and crispness of Fall in the air, and all the colored leaves on the ground. And all the spooky decorations! I just love it. So I will reminisce with my little trip down memory lane. The other night I got out my box of treasured Halloween costumes. I opened the costume box , and all the memories from some of the grandkids and my costumes came rushing back to me. I looked at the costumes and thought of each Halloween I had spent with my grandkids. The Trick or Treating, and all the fun we had. And also the kids coming to my job to celebrate Halloween with my residents.
I work in a retirement home for independent senior citizens, where I am a cook and weekend manager. Every year I throw the residents a Halloween party, and I have my grandkids dress up and come to my parties. The residents really enjoy seeing the girls, and my grandkids Shelly and Makayla tell them Ghost stories, and we all play games,we also have prizes for the winners. ( of course everyone is a winner ). There is always a wonderful time had by all! I always put out a great buffet with plenty of food, that I have made myself. And everyone enjoys chowing down.
This year Shelly and Makayla will wear new costumes, which after the party, and Trick or Treating will go into the Halloween costume box. There they will stay nice and safe, with the memories to go with them. And this year we will have two new little ones at my Halloween party. My little grandbaby Mia, she is 3 years old and her baby sister Bree and she is 2 years old. My Residents are going to really enjoy seeing all the girls together. And we will make new memories.
Well anyway back to the costumes. I decided to have a little fun with them, and decided to take some pictures of the costumes. While I was doing this, my granddaughter Shelly, who is 13 yrs old, came downstairs to visit. She decided to get into the act along with me! She modeled the Bridal costume she wore last year, and combined two of the costumes I had worn the last couple of years. She tried to model her older brothers Ninja Turtle costume, but it did not fit. I have had that costume for awhile now, as he is 16 years old now. We had so much fun talking about Halloweens from the past, and we planned for the upcoming Halloween party. We took lots of pictures and laughed a lot! And I think it even cheered me up, because I was feeling a bit down that day.
Just looking at those Halloween costumes made me feel happy, and sad at the same time, and even brought a slight tear to my eye. Children they grow up so fast, and we have to enjoy all the time that we can with them. And make as many happy special memories with them as well. And we hope they will remember them, when they are grown, and tell their children stories about back in the day.
Well that is my little story about my little box of treasured Halloween costumes. So everyone have a safe and Happy Halloween, and remember to check all the candy before letting the kiddies eat it. And pack away those Halloween costumes, so you can make special memories also!
