Here comes Easter Again

Spring and Easter time
Spring and Easter time

It´s That time of Year Again

Easter comes around again soon. The time of year when l can never make the connection between chocolate eggs, and the death and resurrection of Christ.

The children who are looking forward to their chocolate eggs may not know that the celebration of Christs´resurrection has anything t do with their fun. New Life. !!

Springtime.. New buds after the Winter......

Followers of Christ

After all the torture the Romans and the jewish leaders put Christ through, the beatings, Whippings of an innocet man. Spìtting on him , pressing thorns in to his head and laughing at the idea of lt being a crown. He must have been half dead before they started hammering nails into his hands and feet, then hanging  him up to slowly die an agonising death. An innocent man!

What a wonderful feeling it must have been for those first followers of Chrst who believed he was the son of God and that he would come back to life within 3 days of his death.

l love the fact that Mary Magdelene, was the first person to see him after he had risen, because the extremely man-oriented society of the day , went even so far as to not believe the word of a woman. They needed a man to be a witness. (Luke chapter 24 verses 9---11).

They say it is a mans´world even now . In so many countries this is true,.

Historical Facts.

The Historian Josephus who was a jew, and never became a Christian, writes about the history of the jews and the wars of the jews and Christ. All as historical facts. He was not a history writer after the fact., rather more like a modern day reporter. He was there and reported incidents of importance.

If he was alive today he would probably be on our  t.v. screens holding a microphone in Iraq or somewhere else where troubles are reported from.. Josephus then we have no reason to doubt, wrote the truth, Jesus Christ was a kind man , son of a carpenter , brought up in the town of Nazareth..

Different People.. Diferent Beliefs.

After the facts , people all over the world then differ from one another, e.g. Beliefs about Christ vary from just that he was a good, innocent man, to the idea that he was a prophet, to believing him to be the son of God, to believing that he IS God as part of a trinitarian god..

Were all entitled to our own beliefs , but l find it very sad that religion divides people so much instead of bringing us all together.. Some nations have the strongest beliefs in god, yet they cause most of the wars and atrocities in the world. The crusades were often massacres.

In our day suicide bombers are some of the most difficult to understand. When l first heard of a female suicide bomber l was curious......... The male martyrs expect to receive 72 virgins for their sacrifice.. What does a female suicide bomber get as a reward for blowing herself up along with any men, women, and children who are in her vicinity at the time?? l´m not sure that l want to understand if it means learning or seeing inside the head of one of these people. It´s too scary!

Other Easter Customs

The image of the President of the U.S and the first Lady standing on one of the White House Lawns is is a much more pleasant image to have in my head. Children searching for hidden chocolate eggs,..

In our little village, this will be our first Easter here, so l´ve no idea what to expect from the poster l saw today. It was advertising Easter Celebrations with the local Brass Band at $10 each, flags provided...............

It sounds like something l shall avoid like the plague.!

The Easter Egg Roll apparrently dates back to 1878 at the White House

Having fun with the family at any holiday time is wonderful, whatever your beliefs.

l´m afraid l still think that since Easter was celebrated to honour the fertility goddess, long before Christ, and Easter bunnies (reproduce like rabbits) and eggs (new life) are all part of the old Pagan celebrations of the Spring festival. l can forget about it. It´s just another day.

Although l do check with the old Jewish calender to find the date of the Passover and remember the things Jesus went through after his last Supper with his loyal Apostles, on that night. This year it is on April 14th.

l still love chocolate eggs though.

Enjoy your holiday, and if you are alone., May God Bless you.

Chocolate can come egg-shaped, guitar-shaped. Any shape as long as it's good chocolate.

Pope Gregory LIED about Mary. What a jerk. The Catholic Church made a note of it back in the 70s. Mary was NOT the prostitute that this idiot male jackass denoted and demoted.

Mary Magdeline was THE Apostle to the Apostles and ALL churches need to get those books and pout them back in the Bible. Mary was the Apostle to the Apostle.

The crazy church people will refer to the Bible - "let nothing be added or removed". TOO LATE! And that was the message of that message. The words of God HAD ALREADY been added to and deleted.

Beautiful hub. And chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs could disappear and Easter would be more correct. What we have is the commercialization and degradation of EVERY holy remembrance. God is not A BUSINESS. God bless you Dim!

Very interesting! It's amazing how many pagon celebrations get incorporated in religious celebrations. For my family and I we avoid the Easter chocloate but go instead for the Easter bun which is a sweet bread eaten with cheese. I'm not sure which is worse...

Like most reliogious celebrations, Easter had become commercialized. I asked my 7 year old just yesterday what he thought Easter meant. Of course he mentioned the Easter bunny and egg hunt.

Maybe that's my fault that he did not realize that it was about the death and resurrection of the Messaih, Jesus. I'll see if he remembers next Easter.

Thanks Dim for such an interesting post.
