Here comes Easter Again

Spring and Easter time

It´s That time of Year Again

Easter comes around again soon. The time of year when l can never make the connection between chocolate eggs, and the death and resurrection of Christ.

The children who are looking forward to their chocolate eggs may not know that the celebration of Christs´resurrection has anything t do with their fun. New Life. !!

Springtime.. New buds after the Winter......

Followers of Christ

After all the torture the Romans and the jewish leaders put Christ through, the beatings, Whippings of an innocet man. Spìtting on him , pressing thorns in to his head and laughing at the idea of lt being a crown. He must have been half dead before they started hammering nails into his hands and feet, then hanging  him up to slowly die an agonising death. An innocent man!

What a wonderful feeling it must have been for those first followers of Chrst who believed he was the son of God and that he would come back to life within 3 days of his death.

l love the fact that Mary Magdelene, was the first person to see him after he had risen, because the extremely man-oriented society of the day , went even so far as to not believe the word of a woman. They needed a man to be a witness. (Luke chapter 24 verses 9---11).

They say it is a mans´world even now . In so many countries this is true,.

Historical Facts.

The Historian Josephus who was a jew, and never became a Christian, writes about the history of the jews and the wars of the jews and Christ. All as historical facts. He was not a history writer after the fact., rather more like a modern day reporter. He was there and reported incidents of importance.

If he was alive today he would probably be on our  t.v. screens holding a microphone in Iraq or somewhere else where troubles are reported from.. Josephus then we have no reason to doubt, wrote the truth, Jesus Christ was a kind man , son of a carpenter , brought up in the town of Nazareth..

Different People.. Diferent Beliefs.

After the facts , people all over the world then differ from one another, e.g. Beliefs about Christ vary from just that he was a good, innocent man, to the idea that he was a prophet, to believing him to be the son of God, to believing that he IS God as part of a trinitarian god..

Were all entitled to our own beliefs , but l find it very sad that religion divides people so much instead of bringing us all together.. Some nations have the strongest beliefs in god, yet they cause most of the wars and atrocities in the world. The crusades were often massacres.

In our day suicide bombers are some of the most difficult to understand. When l first heard of a female suicide bomber l was curious......... The male martyrs expect to receive 72 virgins for their sacrifice.. What does a female suicide bomber get as a reward for blowing herself up along with any men, women, and children who are in her vicinity at the time?? l´m not sure that l want to understand if it means learning or seeing inside the head of one of these people. It´s too scary!

Other Easter Customs

The image of the President of the U.S and the first Lady standing on one of the White House Lawns is is a much more pleasant image to have in my head. Children searching for hidden chocolate eggs,..

In our little village, this will be our first Easter here, so l´ve no idea what to expect from the poster l saw today. It was advertising Easter Celebrations with the local Brass Band at $10 each, flags provided...............

It sounds like something l shall avoid like the plague.!

Having fun with the family at any holiday time is wonderful, whatever your beliefs.

l´m afraid l still think that since Easter was celebrated to honour the fertility goddess, long before Christ, and Easter bunnies (reproduce like rabbits) and eggs (new life) are all part of the old Pagan celebrations of the Spring festival. l can forget about it. It´s just another day.

Although l do check with the old Jewish calender to find the date of the Passover and remember the things Jesus went through after his last Supper with his loyal Apostles, on that night. This year it is on April 14th.

l still love chocolate eggs though.

Enjoy your holiday, and if you are alone., May God Bless you.

Chocolate can come egg-shaped, guitar-shaped. Any shape as long as it's good chocolate.
