Pecan Pie Poll

Ever Have Trouble Finding Pecan Pie

Oh! The glory!

After a severe pecan pie drought over the summer, the beautiful realization that pecan pie is back on the supermarket shelves.

A ways back, I did a hub on titled "I know Why I Can't Find Pecan Pie."  It was a horrible revelation.  I did the research during the summer. The pie maker Marie Callenders told me that, particularly if you are a Genuardi's customer,  you won't see much pecan pie during the summer.

They added that pecan pie, for a lot of stores, is considered a seasonal food.  Stores wait until the fall to start putting out the coveted pecan pie.

Oh the humanity!

What is a guy to do?  I felt like a rooster locked out of the hen house.  Sure, my life continued.  The friends, the job, the family, the long walks in the sun, an occasional laugh or two, but the void was still there.  Those little pecans tugging at my heart strings. Worse yet, as a consumer that has been misled in the past, I wasn't even sure if the October rebirth of pecan pie was just a myth. What if these pies don't come to fruition until November or December?

Well,  as of the time of this article, we are into October once again.  The leaves are changing and the cold winds are beginning their whispering call. Why then am I smiling amid the dead leaves and prospect of winter freeze?

The pie is back.  As promised, the October pecan pies have started to stack up on the shelves.   Sometimes I just hold that cold, frozen box for a moment before I take it from the store freezer section.

Time to be happy again.  My dentist will be disagreeable with the new cavities this year, but at least I'll be smiling.
