14 Hooks Later-The Quest for the Perfect Bra

Updated on January 31, 2015

I'm sure most of you ladies will agree with me. Nothing is more aggravating than a bra that does not fit properly.  It's not only uncomfortable, it's just downright unflattering underneath your garments.  If you don't feel good or look good, it's bound to affect your mood.  Being in a bad mood can ruin your day if you let it.

Finding a good fitting bra is important and you deserve to feel good and look good.  Don't skimp on this item.

It really can be difficult to find the proper fit though. There are so many decisions to make!

Do you want it to lift and separate, or lift and push them together?

Do you want thin little straps, or wide padded straps?

Do you want and/or need support on the side?

Do you want lace?

Seamless?

Front closure? Back closure?

Black? White? Natural?

Arrrgggghhhhhhh

My Quest for the Perfect Bra

I've always had problems finding a bra that fits me like I want it to. There are places that bulge in ways I don't find flattering. Let's just say I've got more 'me' than some bras want to handle.

I decided that perhaps a longline bra would smooth a lot of that out. My idea was that if I could somehow corral it all in and eliminate as many spillage points as I could, then maybe, just maybe, I could fool myself into thinking things were alright.

I finally found one online that I thought would do the trick. It was even on sale.

The Arrival

I was so excited when my new longline bra arrived! I took out of the package and admired it.

I couldn't wait to try it on.

There I stood, in the mirror wondering where to start. Since it is a front closure bra, I decided I would need to slip it on like a vest. Then, I wasn't sure which end to start hooking. Do you start at the bottom? Do you start at the top? This thing fits pretty snuggly. Starting at either end would prove to be a challenge.

Then it hit me.

Oh my gosh, this thing has 14 hooks! Not the normal two or three that most have. Fourteen!

My Assessment of the Situation

Twice a day, I am resolved to standing and hooking and un-hooking fourteen hooks.

I have discovered that it is far easier to hook it from the bottom up, but also easier to get off track. Don't you hate it when you do that?

It's easier to unhook it from the top down.

I will say that it does exactly what I need it to do. No more spillages. Things seem to stay where they're supposed to. The gals seem content.

It is nice to get out of it once I'm home. I just can't be in a hurry to do it.
