Back in the 60's, believe it or not, we had Health Spas. They were equivalent to today's gyms, with a sauna, swimming pool, steam room and a healthy drink bar.
My father was a personal trainer, part-time in the evening and a welder during the day. He would come home and mix up some "energy health drinks" for me and my mother.
These are some of the drinks he used to make. I love the names of some of these. Each recipe makes 1 drink, so you can double or triple the recipe according to how many people you have.
SPA "FOUNTAIN OF VIGOR"
2 Tablespoons of raw sugar (I use Turbinado. You could use 2 packets of Splenda, also), 2 Tablespoons fresh strawberries, 1 Tablespoon vanilla protein powder, 1 teaspoon wheat germ, 1/2 teaspoon Brewer's yeast, 1 cup skim milk and 1 cup ice. If you don't like to add ice, you can freeze the fruit. (250 calories)

Yes, and at 88 he still looks like Jack LaLanne.
Bookmarking! Great info, Thanks.
I love the name "Fountain of Vigor", makes me want to try that one first :) I usually have a protein shake everyday I work out (4-5 times a week), so I'm glad to try something new. Thanks for the info.
Townart, please try some of these. They are simple, but good! Thanks for the comment and for stopping by.
