30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge

Alright. Here it is--my numero uno. Hub number one of my 30 in 30. I have accepted the challenge. I am hoping to do more than thirty, but setting the main goal at 30. It took me a little while to decide to do this. It's a big decision. I didn't find out about it until Sunday evening due to the storm killing our power...but that's another hub for another day...

So, here I am starting out on my trek to thirty hubs. A little behind everybody else, but then again, that's how I roll. A day late and a dollar short...that's me. I am going to try to knock out as many of these puppies as I can over the length of the challenge. Don't hold your breath for 100 though! I am not Super Hubber.

My Process-

How did I decide to do this??

Well, I saw the challenge announcement yesterday. The thought to join in crossed my mind just briefly before I said no way. I still didn't have power at home at that time either so that factored into my decision as well.

I don't want to be tied to it, I thought. I don't want to say yes I'll do it and then fail. I had a few excuses. When we got home last night to lights that burned bright once again when the switch was flipped instead of bulbs laughing at us when we flipped to find darkness, one of my excuses flew out the window. Ok, so I got online this morning and saw the challenge related forums staring me in the face, taunting me.

I thought about it some more, torn between whether I wanted to suck it up and get busy or slink off as if I'd not realized it started today. What to do..... Well, I did what I usually wind up doing when I want to think about something. I cleaned house. And realized I wanted to do it. Somewhere between cleaning the toilet and febreezing the curtains, I knew I was going to join in on the fun.

Here We Go...

So here I am, I've put on my jogging pants, I've done some calisthenics, I have sweatbands on my wrists and forehead and I'm hearing the music from Rocky playing in my head. I'm ready. HubPages, eat your heart out.

Ok, so part of the reason I decided to go ahead and do this, also has to do with the fact that, until the storm hit, I had been trying to get at least one hub out every day anyhow. And this way I get to be on the challenge team!! I like participating on a team. I like feeling like I am an integral part of the community. I like feeling like I am a participator. Oh yeah. I am excited. Here I go....

My Speech To Other Challenge Hopefuls

I understand this section may seem obsolete after today, but consider it not just a speech to hopefuls or hubbers on the fence about accepting the challenge--think of it as a motivational tool for those already in the challenge to keep going. Not that I expect anyone to quit or not follow through or any of that jazz. In all honesty, I scrolled through the list of participants a bit and saw several hubbers who will have no problem with 30, 50 or 100.

So, here goes....my attempt at motivation.

Even if I fail miserably at this challenge--even if this is the only hub I get out for the rest of my HubLife--at least I tried. No matter the outcome of this challenge or any challenge we face in life--at least you can say you tried. I pushed myself to do something and that feels good. Don't get discouraged, you can do it.
