A Sims 3 Story | The House of Fiery Death

Updated on October 14, 2009

I created the fiery house of death after making the discovery that Sims won't actually flee from fire, they'll sometimes run their silly selves right into it. Now that is a trait worth exploring, for scientific reasons.

This first screen shot actually shows the second inhabitant of the house of fiery death, Anna Fatte. In spite of the obvious signs of fire, typified by the soot marks on the floor, and the fact that there are three ovens lined up by the front door, one right by her bed, she happily moves into her new home, makes some Mac and Cheese and eats it on the toilet.

Then she mixes up another batch on the stove next to her bed and halfway through making it, decides that she'd rather have a nice sleep instead. Beside the bed, the mac and cheese continues to cook, unobserved and unattended.

Oops, it's now on fire. No need to wake up though.

Disgusted at being woken up by a flaming stove, Anna expresses her disappointment by arguing with the flames and telling them how much she would love to put them out by going to the bathroom on them.

The argument continues...

The Grim Reaper comes for Anna, who expresses some surprise at her fiery demise, but like the good sport she is, happily leaps into the urn which awaits her and is placed on the kitchen counter.

A New Family...

The next inhabitants of the fiery house of death are a young family, excited to pick up such a cheap deal on a large lot. Little do they know the history of the home, until a fire mysteriously breaks out on the first night of their occupation.

Another visit from the Grim Reaper as he (rather biblically) claims their oldest son, but not to worry, he is resurrected through the powers of science, and is brought back home just in time for yet another fire to break out. (It would seem that Mother Spencer is unable to work out the correlation between touching the stove and having family members claimed in a raging domestic inferno.)

Once again, the family cluster around the fire, just begging it to turn them into toasted Sims.

Crowds gather, even the previous occupants and victims of the fiery house of doom express concern for the nitwits who refuse to flee the flames. I step in and call the firefighters before we lose the entire family in one act of stupid. In the meantime, Sims from surrounding homes have made their way to the front gate and front door, watching the goings on. Some comment on how unpleasant a crying baby is, others note how very tired they are.

Having managed to actually raise the dead with their massive house fire, the Funke family now host the ghosts Anna and the previous owner, a young man by the name of Bleedin' Eddie, who takes a nap on one of the kid's beds. These ghosts are not to be confused with their ghostly son, who is now technically alive, in spite of being made of ethereal flame. The visiting ghosts disappear with the rising sun.

It seems that this family is in for nothing but misery, however there is a bright spot on the horizon. Fiery Ghost son, Spencer, has a birthday!

He ages into a fine teenager and immediately teaches the baby of the house, Charlotte, how to speak, as the rest of the family have been far too busy setting themselves aflame to be bothered imparting the basic skills of life to their daughter.

The future of this family hangs in the balance. Will they continue to set themselves aflame with all the aplomb of lemmings in a dynamite factory? Or will the upgrading of the stove allow them to live happily ever after? Only time will tell....
