Remember Our Troops
I just received a chain email asking to pass along pictures of our brave men and women in uniform, in honor of the supreme sacrifice many of them have made for us all. I didn't want to send this out by email to all my friends, because I suspect many do not read forwarded emails. However, the spirit of the request is noble, and so I have decided to publish these pictures on this hub, and at the bottom there is a prayer we can all say. Underneath the pictures, I've updated this page to include random thoughts the images inspire as I view them. If anyone has any thoughts of their own they would like to add, send them to jamesfhenry@yahoo.com .
Let us pray...
Prayer chain for our Military.... Don't break it!
Please send this on after a short prayer. Prayer for our soldiers Don't break it!
Prayer:
'Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen.'
Prayer Request: When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our troops around the world.
There is nothing attached. Just send this to people in your address book. Do not let it stop with you. Of all the gifts you could give a Marine, Soldier, Sailor, Airman, & others deployed in harm's way, prayer is the ver y best one.
GOD BLESS YOU FOR PASSING IT ON!
UPDATE! Help A Soldier Through Soldier's Angels!
I have an uncle who is a Vietnam Veteran himself. He just alerted me to an organization that is trying to help soldiers who are still serving in Iraq. The name of the organization is Soldier's Angels. According to my uncle, at present they have 138 soldiers who are awaiting "adoption."
"This organization recruits people to "Adopt a Soldier" to collect items and send packages to one or more of our men. Items included are socks, shaving soap (in tubes no sprays) combs, toothbrushes, sun tan lotion (which are hard to get in Iraq) and the like. Also requested are snacks such as beef jerkey, peanuts, etc. or anything that is sealed so that it will not soil," my uncle reported.

A wonderful hub! Not much to add to this very sad reality. I rather avoid to say something bad about our leaders, not to spoil this beautiful hub and Ultimate Sacrifice of these brave men. Lord Bless Their souls.
I did the easy thing, cutting and pasting mostly. I, too, was touched by the email, and that's why I reproduced its contents here....I suspect more people will read it in this hub than if I did email it far and wide.
I was particularly touched by the picture of the young man receiving the American Flag. I can only imagine the torment that poor boy must be experiencing.
Thanks for writing Cheryl and Solar
A very moving Hub and much bettetr than those "pass on" Emails
Crash, this is a great tho' sad hub. Especially the pix of the "all dressed up" little boy, trying to hold back his tears, receiving the flag that draped his young soldier-dad's coffin. I wish they'd all come home safe right away. -Helen
Very touching hub and pictures of reality that we don't see everyday. Reminding us that our soldiers have sons, daughters, family and freinds. We need to remember all of them in our prayers.
Thanks for hubbing this.
There sacrafices are very less in number.
I'm not sure if I follow you topstuff. It is true that there are far fewer deaths in the Iraq war than there were in previous wars and conflicts. What people don't realize is that there are many many more people who are permanently disabled and disfigured from this war than previous wars. Advances in medical science have managed to save lives, keeping our fatalities very low, by comparison, but the numbers of our soldiers going home with severe, permanent injuries is astronomical.
Yeah, the Iraq war is a real bargain--only 3,000 American soldiers plus 50-100,000 Iraqis.
You're definitely preaching to the choir on this one Ralph. Thanks for the comment!

That brought tears to my eyes !! Thank you my nephew just joined the Army and leaves July 15th, and of of my closest friends just lost there 19 year old son in IRAQ. I am sending her your hub , as you are so thoughtful. This chain should not go unbroken.
It was a very simple gesture....what those brave men and women are doing in Iraq is far more poignant than this tribute. Thanks for your thoughts AEvans.
Thank you so much. Sometimes those great e-mail get clogged up with other information. It is nice to have a clean site to view.
You're welcome Willtrigger. Thanks for posting your comment.
Great Hub. There is so much bad about this illegal war we're in. We have so many good soliders doing their duty dispite the doings of our corrupt administration. Thank you for sharing this Hub.
I received the same e-mail wish I knew how to do what you did...Lovely and Thank you so much...I Love it...I Love America...there is truly no place like it on earth...Heaven is another thing...G-Ma :o) Hugs & Peace...and Happy New Year...
G-Ma - It really wasn't that tough. I just saved all the pictures on my hard drive. The most time consuming thing was converting them to jpeg format, because hubpages doesn't support bitmap files. Thanks for the comment!
Jim
Great Hub you have here :) Please check out my Belfast Maine website would love to network!
Amen. I have been blessed so far, My son is serving in Afghanistan and his deployment is over in 14 more days. However, I have friends who wer'nt so blessed, and I see the toll it takes on them, year after year. Thank you for sharing this becuase it brought awareness, and through awareness many more people partake in Supporting our Troops. HOOAH
Hooah right back atcha! Thank you for your comment, Army Infantry Mom. I pray your son makes it home safe and sound. Be sure to thank him for his service to our country for me.
Jim Henry
Thank you for bringing awareness regaurding our Soldier's,..It is really needed !!!! (More than ever ) HOOAH
Great collection...And my sympathies are with these soldiers..........i would request you to post smiliar pictures of millions of iraqis who were killed in these non-sense wars.......Thanks
Serenity - as I noted above, I received these photographs by way of a serial email floating around the Internet. If anyone has photographs such as you requested, I would definitely publish them, because I believe people need to know the reality of what has happened in Iraq, and to a certain degree continues.
Thanks for your comment!
Jim
Thank you sir for a great hub.
Thanks for visiting it. My part is small by comparison with the sacrifice of the armed forces and their families.

Extremely touching, crash. It's all too easy to look at the politics and ignore the courage and the sacrifice. Thank you for the reminder.
