Acer Aspire Review

A little cheaper, the Acer Aspire is a pretty good mini laptop. I know a few people who have opted to purchase the Acer netbook over the others; just make sure that to consider all the options and features before jumping into buying a netbook.

The Acer Aspire comes in a few colors to include blue, white, red, and black, which makes it that much more appealing with the color variety. Plus, with the design, the Acer Aspire One is has an overall sleek appeal and with just under 3 pounds, it's a very light mini laptop.

Acer Aspire One Features

Battery Life

The 6-cell battery that provides up to 5 hours of battery life without having to plug into an AC outlet, which is pretty good for a netbook.

Intel Atom Processor

Powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor that uses just 2.5 watts of power, which is less than the average desktop by 1/10 the ratio. The Intel Atom processor is great for battery management. The N270 processor also features a power-optimized front side bus of 533 MHz so that you have a much faster data transfer on demand mobile applications and 512 KB L2 cache.

Storage

Packed with roomy 160 GB hard drive which is ideal for storing digital audio and video, as well as any other files and documents that you need on the go. The Acer Aspire also features 1 GB of installed RAM that can be expanded to a maximum of 2 GB of RAM.

Operation System

The Acer is pre-installed with Microsoft XP, which is a plus for most people, as you'll be able to run Microsoft programs such as word.

The Acer includes an auto recovery software, Adobe Reader, McAfee Internet Security Suite, and a trial of 2007 Microsoft Office.

Screen

The Acer Aspire One has a 10.1 inch screen with a 1024x600 resolution, which is wonderful for clear and crisp images and audio. It supports up to a 262K color depth, as well to ensure that your images are just right and to near perfection. Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, and the CrystalBrite display technology guarantees the best possible visual experience.

The CrystalBrite technology diffuses surrounding light and internal ray so that the color coordinates more accurately, minimizing distortion and creating high-fidelity colors no matter the background lighting or environment. The better the picture is and the clearer the screen, the better off your eyes and vision are, so this is truly a good thing.

I don't think that you can switch them, but there are some netbooks that run on linux.
