Google Adsense is well known as one of the most popular, and successful, online advert publishing networks. Despite this Adsense has remained limited to a fairly small number of countries, up until now.

Today (12th November 2009) Google announced that it would be releasing Western Union payments in six new countries. It is still limiting the number of countries it allows payment to via this method. I find this quite a reasonable decision considering how hard it is to police fraud in the majority of the worlds countries.

Most publishers applauded the decision for more payment options, giving greater flexibility, to more people. For others however there were some complaints.

Some people do worry that earnings may be lost as Google adverts are spread over more spammy websites written in poorer English. Adverts on spam sites can be clicked as many times as normal websites (More often if a reader wants to get away from the dredged English text) but spam leads very rarely convert to a sale.

This means potential advertisers will not buy from Google Adsense again, which means less people bidding on keywords, and less income for all us Publishers.

Adsense Western Union payments will however go ahead regardless, and we will find out if the negatives are as bad as the hype or not. We can usually rely on Google to do the right thing business wise though!

The New countries to receive Google Adsense Western Union payments are

• Puerto Rico
• Jamaica
• Virgin Islands (British)
• Ecuador
• Costa Rica
• Paraguay

As you can see, none ring any bells with major fraud, and there are a few places on that list that I would love to live in!
