Don't Let This Be Your Family

Who Are The Ones That Suffer

There are so many families in this world that have someone addicted to alcohol and these families are at wits end on what exactly to do or say to the alcoholic without wondering if they will be hurting them or their feelings. Well, there is the first mistake. Being kind and turning your head to their addiction to alcohol and just making believe it is not happening is the worse thing you could do.

So many people do this just to keep peace in the family, but in the long run you are only making things worse and prolonging the person that is an alcoholic in getting the help they need to become clean and sober.

When you hear of alcoholism in a family, who really suffers? Enabling the alcoholic is not helping anything, as hard as it is to say no. I will not give you money for your addiction or I will not buy any alcohol for you and so on. The family member or even friends find it so hard to say the word No to the alcoholic, but sooner or later these same people will just get fed up with the same old excuses and lies the alcoholic tends to hand out.

The alcoholic doesn't realize who they are hurting. They are blinded by their own addiction to alcohol and can not see past the addiction itself.

The children of these families see this drinking of alcohol everyday and as they are young they don't realize it is not the normal thing to do, but as these children get older and wiser, it is then that they realize there is a real problem in their family and the problem is alcoholism in the family.

Think Before You Drink

Before you tilt that bottle up or fill that glass with booze, think of who you may be hurting besides yourself. Most alcoholics, such as myself, feel they are indestructible and nothing will harm them even though they drink alcohol everyday. If the alcoholic doesn't care about his/her own health and life, then stop for a moment and look at the others you are hurting with your addiction to alcohol and bringing alcoholism into the family.

Remember, if your children are young and really don't know what's happening in your family as far as your addiction to alcohol, sooner or later they will get wise to you and your addiction. There could be a chance of losing them and everything you had worked for your whole life for, all because of an avoidable addiction.

Lets all try to get alcoholism out of our families and start to live a clean and sober life and enjoy your families being sober. Yeah, I know easier said than done, but it is possible if you give sobriety a chance. Believe me, it will change your life and everyone around you if you decide to surrender to your addiction to alcohol.

Give it a try and you just might love the way you feel and how wonderful your life can be with your family being sober. There is now harm trying a new life, and once you experience your new life and see just how great it can be, you will try your hardest to continue to live the life of sobriety.
