I work in the travel industry, and one of the places we send tour groups to is Australia.  Well, as part of one of our trainings, we were going over parts of the tour and useful things to know.  With some of our other tours, this section includes phrases in the foreign language, but for Australia they decided to include English phrases that may as well be a foreign language!

"And Bob's your Uncle"  falls into that category.  I had never heard it before, and had to look up the reference.  I guess it can mean "you're all set" or "you've got it made!" when you use it at the end of a conversation.  It can also be a more direct "and there you have it".

Try it out - maybe we can get it to catch on in the US!

It's a song

It's also a game show...

Where would you use it?

  • At work - it makes no sense, and neither does my work!
  • At school - no one would get it, but it would be funny
  • When talking to my friend Chris, who has an Uncle Bob
