Apple Picking Time In North Carolina

Its apple picking time in western North Carolina and let me tell you they are so good this year. There is nothing like biting into an apple just picked from the tree. The taste just explodes in your mouth and the juice is just so good. And North Carolina especially the western part of the state is where you want to go for some of the best fresh apples you will ever eat.

You can travel north on highway 18 out of Shelby North Carolina and just a few miles north out of Shelby North Carolina you will start to see apple orchards and stands selling apples. You will find several very good restaurants in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Be sure to try the apple fries and apple pie served at these locations. 1. 4-6 large Granny Smith Apples.

2. 2 Cups Self Rising Flour.

3. 1 Cup Sugar.

6. 2 Large Eggs.

You will want to peel your Granny Smith Apples and cut your apples up in long pieces like fries. Beat your milk and eggs together well and place some apple fries into the milk and egg mixture. In a bag mix your flour and sugar. Take your well soaked apple fries from the milk and egg mixture and place them into the bag and shake well to be sure they are well coated.

You will want a home deep fryer on 350 degrees to fry your apple fries in. Fry until golden brown and then place in a pan on paper towels to drain away the excess grease. While still very hot shake cinnamon on the apple fries.
