In my opinion; second to unconditional love; there's no greater gift you can give a child, than the one that sparks their creativity.

All too often though, kids are seated in front of the television set, watching movies or playing video games, text-messaging on their cell phones, or playing with their handheld video games.

With all the gadgets available to us today, it's no wonder we are on a constant search for the latest and greatest "toy."

While there is nothing wrong in-of-itself, owning and using these things, they can at time stifle a child's natural creativity.

So why not this year, opt for something other than electronics?

Why not go for something that will stimulate your child's imagination, teach them a skill, and help them learn patience (instead of instant gratification)? - Why not gift them an arts and crafts set?

Some deal with crocheting and knitting, while others teach kids how to assemble their own model cars or airplanes.

Then there are those that teach greeting card and jewelry assembling, while others teach simple painting or drawing skills.

Stimulate that interest, and watch his/her creativity rise to newer heights!
