BURN THE KORAN-QURAN!

Updated on September 7, 2010

On Sept. 11th, a Florida preacher and church will demonstrate to the world that America is Great, is blessed by God (aka Allah) because we are a Christian people that embrace freedom by burning the Koran or Quran (however you want to spell it). The holiest of holy books, so claimed by Muslims and inspired as the word from Allah.

In Pakistan, mass riots have broken out regarding this announcement. Waves in a sea of muslamic islamics yell, "America is Satan', "Down with America" in English. In Afghanistan, General Petraeus, commander of US forces, advises the church not to do this in fear of reprisals against American troops there and in Iraq because the Taliban is "angry" about it. Many American leading priests have denounced this event as "un-American". Hillary Clinton indicated it is "deplorable". In Iraq, the scenario repeats as it was in Pakistan, In Iran, its leaders are no doubt stoking the anti-American flame in Iraq by getting their political groups there to demonstrate for the media and public. They want the PM out and hope to vote him out of office and replaced by their own challenger, a strong supporter of Iranian politics.

Regardless of whether this book is burned or not, the sitaution in Afghanistan and Iraq will continue to deteriorate and American soldiers are in no more or less danger than before. Sure, there might be a spike in violence, so what else is new? why are US troops afraid? Why is Petraeus such a whimp? Iran will continue to affect Iraq because they now can accomplish this without violence and in the American way- vote the current PM out of office by getting other voting blocks to support their candidate. If Iran does this, the Iraq we know now, will change.

Freedom of speech is suddenly asked to be "curtailed" because it might offend. The Muslim mosque being built two blocks from ground zero certainly has "offended" a lot of Americans, yet, what does the muslims do? Shrug their shoulders and say too bad. We own the property and it will be done. Hmm, why then, should America be so concerned about burning the Koran? There seems to be little respect between East and West.

The good thing about this event is that the Florida preacher can burn the Koran and bible if he wants, it is America. It is an expression of his right to do so. I am sure many of his followers may not agree, so they will leave the church. It is America, it is their right.

The American government cannot always be afraid to offend, especially when one of their citizens chooses to burn a book called the Koran. It really is none of their business except for PR purposes. Having so many high ranking US officials condemn this act shows the world how weak we are.  The US military is afraid the book burning may cause more doom in Afghanistan. What if Petraeus told them how the US loves islam and the Koran, would the Taliban curtail their killing of US troops? Do you think Iran would decide not to become involved in Iraqi politics? Would the roadside bombs cease? Would Iran stop nuclear activities? Would the Islam stop beheadings, whippings and stoning for minor criminal offenses?

The answer is no.
