Best BBQ Chicken Pizza Recipe
71
Need a quick, yet impressive recipe to feed the family or serve as an appetizer for a neighborhood gathering? How about barbeque chicken pizza? This is super easy and inexpensive. It tastes even better than the options at your local watering hole. For a unique spin on homemade pizza fare, read on. You may not ever go out again!
Ingredients you will need include for barbeque chicken pizza:
- Boboli shell or your own baked pizza crust
- Pre-cooked, shredded chicken
- Pizza cheese (mozzarella and parmesan)
- Feta cheese, crumbled
- Thinly-sliced red onions
- Thinly-sliced green peppers
- Fresh rosemary and/or other herbs
- Sliced black olives (if desired)
- Sauteed sliced mushrooms (if desired)
- BBQ Sauce (any bottled brand that you enjoy)
Before You Begin Making Barbeque Chicken Pizza
The most important decision to make before you start your barbeque chicken pizza is whether you will be making your own pizza crust. Boboli has a great shell that you can buy, pre-made, at the grocery store. It comes in regular and whole-wheat options (which I prefer as a diabetic). If you desire to bake your own crust, there are many recipes and options for you. The video to the right has some excellent instruction.
Once your shell is baked and/or otherwise ready, place it on a round pizza pan. Spread 1/2 cup of barbecue sauce over the top, leaving about 1/2 inch around the edges. Next, add your chicken. One of the easiest methods is to purchase a pre-baked chicken at the grocery. Simply cut away the meat and shred. Alternatively, you can use leftovers from the super Marinated Grilled Chicken recipe.
On top of this, add some crumbled feta cheese, thinly sliced red onions and sliced green peppers. Top with 1-2 cups of a blend of shredded pizza cheese, mozzarella, parmesan and cheddar, to taste. It is always nice to add freshly chopped herbs, such as rosemary, basil, tarragon, and/or thyme. Alternatively, you can add sliced black olives and/or sauteed sliced mushrooms, if desired. You are almost ready to enjoy your barbeque chicken pizza!
How to Make Your Own Pizza Dough
If you are baking your own pizza dough, you will want to follow the appropriate instructions. Generally, plan on baking the crust for 10-15 minutes at 425 degrees. Allow to cool. If you are using a Boboli crust, no need to pre-heat or bake beforehand. Simply remove from the package and place on your baking sheet.
After you have added the toppings as described above, bake your barbeque chicken pizza in a 425 degree oven for 10-15 minutes, until cheese is bubbly. Remove and allow to sit for 3 minutes. Place onto cutting board and slice. Get ready to enjoy!

Hey Steph, there's a pizza place around here that makes a BBQ chicken pizza, but this looks a lot more tasty!
Thanks Mary and CW - trust me - it tastes so much better when you make it at home! :-)
Like the sound of this topping. Thanks for it Stephhics68.
This sounds fantastic. I simply must try it. Great job!
Ohhh, this sounds so good! I am definitely going to give it a try!
Thanks Just Rodney! Rodney and Kim - I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Really sounds easy and delicious. And thanks for the tip on Boboli - will have to give them a try.
With as much as I love pizza, you know I am going to try this one out really soon! I also like to bake garlic cloves and add them to the toppings. When you get a clove nice and gooshy, it really tastes great! Sometimes I also mix a tomato based BBQ sauce with a little yellow mustard, just to add to the flavor mix.
very nice and made me hungry now....
I have just one word for this--yum! Can't wait to give it a whirl..
Thanks all for the enthusiasm! Chef Jeff, I loved roasted garlic cloves. I will try your tip on the yellow mustard in the BBQ sauce, too!
Feta and bbq sauce - that's an interesting combo. I'll have to try that sometime!
Hi Frani- we also try gorganzola instead! Be creative! Steph
I love to make pizza at home, new recipe to try! Thanks!
I love recipes. This does look quick and easy too.
Thanks Karen - we make this one several times a month. :-)
That looks so good! Thanks for the videos too - I need all the help I can get, lol!
LOL - I know, I'm the same way Amy. I have to read it, hear it, watch it (yes, and eat it) and then it finally sinks in. :-)
very nice on. i will try it
Thanks Garlicoon! It is so tasty, I hope you have a great meal. Steph
You are killing me steph. Not only is my stomach growling but now I have to wipe drool off my keyboard!
Ooh! This sounds like a winner. I love the Boboli crusts!
Mmmmm, my mouth is watering!
LOL - poor DJ! I would bake one of the pizzas up right now and send it to you, if I could. :-) Steph
Cailin, yes. Boboli crusts make this fast and super easy.
Thanks Lilymag. Thank goodness the grocery stores are still open today (4th of July). ;)
I'll await your package! :D
They make it at California Pizza Kitchen down here in FLA. It seems quite similar to the one you are describing. I'm still drooling and it's only 9am.
Its never too early for pizza! :-)
Thanks for this recipes. It looks great!
