This Christmas (2009) I am planning on buying my 2 year old son (he'll be 3 in February) a toy garage. He has loved playing with toy garages at playgroups and friend's houses so I know he will love his own. Also a friend with 4 and 5 year old boys has said her toy gargage was one of the best toys she's ever bought.

I am researching the best toy garage to buy and I'm sharing my research below. The choice is very wide. There's wooden toy garages, plastic toy garages, city garages, garages with parking, car washes and all kinds of different accessories. There are also lots of well know toy makers to choose from including plan toy, Melissa and Doug and Kidicraft garages.

If you're looking for a toy garage hopefully you'll find the best toy garage for your child below.

Plan Toys City Series Parking Garage

Plan Toy company aim to practice the three "Rs" Reduce, Resue and Recycle while producing quality toys and this garage doesn't disappoint. It contains 3 floors of parking space, an elevator tower, and helipad. The set also includes a figure, gas station and car washing machine. Amazon reviewers compliment the garage for its sturdiness and durability. It's easy to assembly and kids seem to love playing with it. You can use hot wheels and other cars with the garage but it may be worth purchasing a few plan toy cars to go with it as they fit on perfectly.

Kidcraft Deluxe Garage Set

This is another wooden toy garage which is sturdy, well made and has lots of features that should keep small children entertained. There's an elevator to take cars up and down and a winding ramp to push cars down. Push the toys cars through the car wash. Open the garage doors to let the cars through. Six cars come with this garage as well as four people to encourage imaginative play. There's also a gas station, a helicopter and a helipad.

If you follow the link on Amazon there is a video of a little boy playing with the garage to give you an idea of what it's like.

Melissa & Doug Parking Garage

This is a sturdy wooden garage of good quality. There's a elevator to take the cars up two levels which you use by turning a knob. Then you can zoom cars down the steep, angled ramp. There's a little gate at the bottom to open and close. This is a great toy for encouraging imaginative play as there are lots of shop fronts for car servicing and car sales.

Huge 7 Level Parking Garage Tower with Cars by Wader Quality German Toys

This is a huge seven storey tall plastic toy garage which is of very high quality. This is the biggest toy garage I could find on the market at over 3' tall. It can accomodate 3 children in play. It contains a kid powered elevator, crane, features car wash service, car service repair station, petrol pumps, 5 cars, decals, and more. It can accomodate other cars too!

Kids Garage and Crane Train Set by KidKraft

This seems like a good idea. There is a garage, crane and train set all in one. The garage has a working elevator. There's a helipad and helicopter. It's like having a little city all in one. This will be great for imaginative and creative play. It's also compatible with Thomas and Friends wooden train sets and Brio wooden train sets so you can add more train sets to the toy for even more fun. I think it seems like excellent value for $69.99.
