Best and useful all time gifts for children

Aside from quality time and unconditional love we give to our children, it is fun to give them gifts once in a while specially during special occasions.

I love children and I am always happy looking at them when they unwrapped a gift and that beautiful smile upon receiving gifts. I am writing this article because I want to share some nice gifts which we can give to children such as books, educational toys and musical instruments. I am also suggesting what gifts to avoid and some tips in choosing stuff to give.

Book is a nice gift to give to children the whole year round, not only during Christmas and birthdays. It is a nice gift because it helps the children to develop the habit of reading. Exposing them to books at an early age will make them inquisitive and become analytical later in their life.

Musical instruments are also nice gifts for children, but when you give the instruments, you should also be prepared to accompany it with how to learn the instrument kit or else enroll them so that they can learn it more. If you are just giving this type of gifts to other children, you might like to suggest it to the parent. Learning music at an early childhood will make them inclined to music later on in their life and besides it is a nice way to while away their time so that they don’t get bored and to keep them busy while enjoying what they are doing. Music or different form of arts is a nice hobby for children. You as the caretaker knows what type of music instruments will be best for them. Good choices are: guitar, violin, flute, clarinet or piano tops the list of possible gift for children. We choose gift base on the budget we have and on the usefulness of it.

Educational toys

Educational toys are also good gifts for children. Give age appropriate toys which will make them think and encourage learning. Blocks are classic for toddlers, while music and chimes for 0-2 years old, You can also give them alphabet and numbers learning toys. A walkie-talkie is also nice one or a phone toy which is battery operated so that you can teach them how to dial a number and you can pretend to talk to them using your cell phone. In this way children knows how to use telephone in case of emergency or dial the help number. This goes along with learning alphabets and numbers and colors. For older children, they love to do things themselves so it is preferred to give them learning kits on how to do certain things, drawing, art etc. They become more adventurous too and would like to explore the outside world. If it is not summer, it is also nice to have a bicycle or balls (soccer, football, basketball etc.) to get them involved and to be sports minded.

Stuff toys are also wholesome and a nice gift as they comfort the children specially when they are sleeping.

Simple tips in choosing toys for children:

I usually avoid giving toys which I call gender unfriendly toys like dolls and kitchen stuff (for cooking) for little girls or tools for boys, cooking to avoid some gender specific stereotypes, sometimes children get the idea that their role is just to cook or just dress up like the dolls they are playing. I don’t give gift which are color specific like pink for girls or boys to avoid categorizing them.

When we give gifts to children we must consider if she has a hobby so that they can appreciate it more.

The safety and condition of the toys are also important. I am not here to advertise but then in my own opinion, I wouldn’t give any child toys which are cheaper and yet toxic. I have read that lead in toys is poisonous. This is important because children put toys in their mouth oftentimes.

Simple toys are better than the most complicated ones and the size of the toy is important too. Usually they put it in the package and instructions if it is appropriate for the child and the age too. They might swallow small sizes and to avoid choking hazards.

It is also important that we give gifts which they can play with at appropriate time of the year. You don’t want to give a gift like bicycle or fishing gears to a child during winter. Sure it is a nice gift but you don’t want it to stay in the shelf for long.
